EVERYONE:

I tried one of the Best of Folsom, 2003, restaurants last night and it was awful. I like food and I have been to many good restaurants in the Sacramento area, but if this is the best you got, maybe I should drive downtown more often.

I know a new Best of Folsom list is coming out soon, but I have got to find some place to take my wife and friends, visiting from out of town.

Please tell me what your favorite restaurants ARE in Folsom because I have lost trust in the Best of Folsom, 2003, food department????

I like Chinese, Mexican, Italian and good old American food.

Thanks in advance of your reply!

Sincerely,

JF thumbsupsmileyanim.gif

Where did you eat at? You can write the name, this isn't China.

Feel free to name names - we all do here, after all, it's your opinion and you're entitled to that. And it may be that the business owner would be interested in knowing your bad experience in order to improve things; or it may just have been an off day - it happens to the best of businesses.

This forum is here to share information, opinions, and such. So go ahead!

For Chinese, I suggest Panda Express. cool.gif

For Italian, Strings is great.

Okay, it was Jennie's Palace near E. Bidwell and Blue Ravine.

You my friends are crazy loco. Jennie's has always been our favorites (and we actually heard about her through MyFolsom.Com), and the food is damn good. Too bad you had a bad experience - maybe it was an off night. I myself have gone there about a half dozen times and I have enjoyed it every time.

I understand your frustration. We've had little luck at most of the "Best of Folsom" restaurants we've tried.

For non-chain restaurants in Folsom, I recommend "My Brother Vinny" in Old Folsom - good food, great cheesecake, nice atmosphere; I also like Seasons on Sutter for being different and in a nice setting - quality seems to vary though; Strings is very good - though I like the EDH location better than the Folsom one.

Other than that, we tend to eat mostly at the big chain restaurants. One thing I'd like to see more of here is independent restaurants that take advantage of our scenery - outdoor patios and such near the river or wetlands or on a hill... I'm not picky!

Hope that helps! I can't wait to see the new restaurants on Sutter Street - fingers crossed!

That's interesting.....we heard about Jennie's Place from a lot of friends, how good it was, etc., and we've gone there 2 times now (we thought the first time might have been an off night) and were absolutely NOT impressed. Jennie is a very, very nice person, but the food was so-so and the price was on the high side for Chinese. We won't go back.

We really like WaMe on Madison between Greenback and Main for Chinese.

Hey Pampchef

It's all about personal taste. I like My Brother Vinny's bar, where I can get good appetizers and drinks, and it's usually empty.

Have not been impressed with the service in the restaurant and have heard complaints from others about it. The good news is that the place was bought by the owner of Bailie's, so it should continue to improve.

I've tried Jennie's, too. I agree that Jennie is nice and engaging, but the food was bland and overpriced.

I like chinese that is authentic, adventurous, and inexpensive.

When is Fat's coming!? That is good chinese food.

Jennie's place is ok, we've been once. She seems like she is always shouting at everyone. Friendly shouting, but loud nonetheless.

Hey everyone, if you don't like the choices *we all made* last year in the 2003 Best of Folsom, you have no right to argue unless you vote this year for the '04 BOF. The link's below, now vote away...

No, it's not. Not if you're looking at "today's posts." Maybe that's an issue with that feature, eh?
"Sometimes on purpose and sometimes by accident, teachers' unions have a long history of working against the interests of children in the name of job security for adults. And Democrats in particular have a history of facilitating this obstructionism in exchange for campaign donations and votes." . . .Amanda Ripley re "Waiting for Superman" movie.
