After moving to central Folsom just over 10 years ago, my family and I have found it increasingly difficult to make a left turn--or, furthermore, even a right turn--out of the Royal Oaks/California Hills housing communities onto Glenn.

Despite a 35mph speed limit, cars often whiz past without end during peak traffic hours. Do you think it would be at all plausible to request stop signs before each of these housing community entrances?

I doubt it since Glenn is an arterial street and has four lanes. You could try contacting the city, but you'd probably have better luck asking for speed enforcement rather than stop signs.

I definitely feel for you. I used to carpool my daughter and her friends several years ago from that neighborhood and had a heck of a time getting on Glenn.

Terry is right that asking for some speed enforcement might help. I doubt they would put in stop signs.

Speed enforcement would also help for that sudden loss of sidewalk where they're doing construction on the corner for the pedestrians that are supposed to suddenly cross where there is no crosswalk across four lanes of speeding traffic. There is the same condition farther down Sibley where they're building the mosque except it directs pedestrians across to a narrow strip of dirt with a ditch on the other side where speeding traffic will be at your back. Sure hope they finish at least the sidewalk portion before the high schoolers start walking to school in August.

i think we will see a big difference when the new dam bridge is built....since so much traffic has to find it way down to folsom . people are using many of these feeder streets...bidwell, glenn...natoma...blue ravine.....some 18,000 cars used to use the damn road....with that new bridge we should see a big reduction...just local cars getting around town...and a few more out of towners that dont know anybetter...

I also make left-hand turns onto Glenn in the same area a couple of times a day. Personally, I'd rather wait a minute or so for an opening in the traffic rather than add yet another traffic control to a busy street.

Even during the peak of rush hour, there are still plenty of opportunities to make a safe turn. It might feel like a long time while waiting, but in the grand scheme of things is usually far less than a minute.

My only gripe revolves around people from the "other" neighborhood on the other side of Glenn. If they're making a right turn, they feel that have the right of way and will often cut off people turning left who were at the intersection first.

Sure it might be a hassle to stop at Glenn and Sibley...traveling up Glenn towards Walmart.. trying to turn left or come from the neighborhood but there absolutly should be lights at both of those streets, not sure of the names but the cross street at California Hills then further up the last street on the left before Walmart. How many times do you travel back down Glenn toward Sibley to then slam on the breaks becase someone is pulling out from that street just past Walmart. Very poor planning on this area. It wouldn't matter if the lowered the speed limit to a crawl, there are blind spots every where. And what will happen when that becomes a Super Walmart... the traffic will be 10 times more. Do they have to wait until someone or many people get hit and die before they do something? The entire area from Walmart down to the intersection of Glenn and Sibley is a death trap waiting for it to happen.. just hope it won't be me coming around that blind curve!!!!!

I know which street you're talking about behind Wal-Mart. If I lived there and had to get out regularly I would go the other way to reach Sibley or Riley.

I'd be careful about wishing for stop signs. I think it would only make more road noise. Everytime I look at that new construction on the corner of Glenn & Sibley I wonder how those people will ever be able to get out onto the road.

I live in the California hills neighborhood at the upper end (near wal mart). making a left hand turn there is difficult because of the landscaping to the left right near the 'enclave' sign. also, there's a transformer there. i remember before that neighborhood was built, it was easier to see down the hill for oncoming traffic. as it is now, i have to almost pull into oncoming traffic so i can see if i can make the turn or not. sometimes i find it actually easier to make a right turn and go the longer way. Or, i can go through the neighborhood to the lower vierra/glenn intersection since i have better visibility.

on a similar note, can we get a stop sign at the bottom of triff court? i almost hit several cars there - and a dumb-azz guy on a bike who just rode straight out in front of me without stopping and was going about 30 mph down the hill. vierra has right of way - not the court. i think this is an accident waiting to happen. i think there are other places on vierra like this (freese? honey cook?)
