[Folsom Patrons of the Arts]

Folsom Patrons of the Arts is pleased to announce the second annual Folsom Focus photo contest. This event is open to amateur photographers only, meaning those that do not attribute a significant portion of their annual income to photography activities. There are no age restrictions and Folsom residency is not required. All photos must be related in some way to Folsom. Images may be captured on digital or film cameras, but all entries must be submitted in print and properly mounted.

This year, we feature six photographic categories:

Digital Art: Transform your digital photograph with image enhancing software to create something totally new and unusual.

Folsom Faces: Take a photo of one of those interesting faces (people or animals) of Folsom!

Folsom Bridges: Capture the beauty of these bridges in your own unique way.

Folsom Outdoors: Whether humans or animals, capture Folsom’s unique life outdoors.

Folsom Old and New: Take a photo that demonstrates your view of Folsom’s past, present, and future.

Folsom by Cell Phone: Be on the lookout with your cell phone to capture a slice of life in Folsom.

There is a Color and Black-and-White subcategory for each category. Prizes will be awarded for each category, subcategory, and age group (Under 12, 12-17, 18+). This years prizes are: $25 for 1st Place, $10 for 2nd Place, and $5 for 3rd Place. There will also be a $100 grand prize for the best overall photo.

Photos will be accepted by mail only, between October 1 and November 19. The winners will be announced at the opening reception on December 7 at the 48 Natoma arts center. There is a $5 entry fee per photo and a limit of 5 entries per person.

Hi.. I am new here but I am wondering the same thing. I heard about this from the telegraph but I have yet to hear anything else on the winners and what not. Anyone know who won or where all the photos can be viewed? I don't have enough time to go to the gallery itself!!

The website lists 2006 photos, I imagine the 2007 set will be up sooner or later. The 2006 photos are pretty good.

Incidentally, to Patrons... your website could, um... use some constructive criticism?
