Folsom High Parking in Prairie Oaks

As a Prairie Oaks neighbor of yours I wondered if you had heard anything more about the parking restrictions that were talked about by the high school. I know people thought it would be better once the new one opened up, but going by there it does not look any better.
In fact our real estate office had a new listing over there a couple of weeks ago and the office always tours our new listings. As soon as we drove into that area it was discussed how bad it looked with all the cars, some trash and kids even wandering around.

I think Intel does not help the situation by closing its parking lot to outgoing traffic in the morning. The traffic is just that much worse.
If you are interested in starting discussion, I can certainly split the thread off. I'd love to see this situation resolved.

Yes, if you would like to split off the discussion, I would like to see if there has been any change/update about the parking in that area of Prairie Oaks.

[...ely I live *just* far enough away that people don't park in front of my house, but the end of our street seems to attract a lot of smokers and litterbugs.

What do you mean by this? Punk kids should be allowed to drive thru private property and do a donut so they can avoid a long line at the left turn light for the school? BTW, most people are GOING to work at that time so why does closing the outgoing matter?

Turning left on to the main lot from Prairie City is a mess in the morning. Intel blocks off the "exit" traffic so people don't drive through campus and go straight in to the lot.
What would help is legal access to U-Turn on Prairie City somewhere. Now you have to go over the freeway and do a 3-point turn on Prairie City out in the sticks.
The way I see it, there are 3 reasons these kids park near the high school in our neighborhoods.
1) Traffic on Prairie City is a mess
2) it may be a closer walk to their classes than the main lot
3) they can smoke cigarettes and hang out with their friends without being hassled by "the man"
Things that I believe would help:
- 2 left turn lanes from Prairie City (there's room on both sides to widen the lane)
- more access to the parking lots
- getting kids who get in to trouble to do supervised neighborhood cleanup in the areas (getting rid of trash, cigarette butts, etc).

might be a good time to get into an egg fight with a neighbor while school is going on. would be a shame if you missed your neighbor and hit a parked car.

Does anyone know who to contact at the City of Folsom to complain? There is so much trash on some of the streets. The home owners of this neighborhood pay over $100 per month...shouldn't that pay for any permits or extra street sweeping because of the issue?

You had to do this in Chicago, too. It's such a pain, but it is effective. The worst thing is that the renter/homeowner trying to get the passes from the City couldn't get them with any unpaid parking tickets. I think everyone in the City of Chicago has an unpaid parking ticket!

Next week I will check in with the city and see what process if any has been started. I will report back. If anyone has more information on who had started this at the city let me know.

I will try to keep my eyes open for the agenda that has the reading on it.
