Yesterdy I received two notices in the mail for violations of the home owners rules. The notices were for items visible from the trails. One of the items had been OKed by the HOA over a year ago, after we received a notice to change the color, which we did. The other item was for yard artwork attached to the house. The art work has been there for over 3 years and has never been a issue. We have talked to our neighbors here in the parkway and have found that more then half have received notices for minor issues this past week.

While we all enjoy living in the Parkway, We feel that the HOA has a place in keeping our neighborhood a clean and safe place. We do feel that they have gone too far this time. We would like to know what you think! Again I feel that they do have a place and do a great job most of the time but lets keep it within reason.

geezus it sounds like it sucks to live in the Parkway with so many danged rules - its like you don't own your own house.

I say if you had that stuff up 3 years already then the HOA can go pound sand.....but they're the law in that neighborhood so good luck with the battle with them.

I don't know if it's the same guys running it as when I lived there five years ago, but they were a bunch of power-hungry jerks. They just had a superior attitude and were really rude. I only got a couple notices (having a potted plant on the fence side of my garage, planting flowers around a tree, and having guests that were parked on the street after 11pm), but I know a lot of other people who had problems. My brother-in-law was doing work in his garage all afternoon, and he got a notice for having the garage door open for more than three hours.

Based on the attitudes and dealings with Parker Development and the HOA, we vowed never to live in a Parker Development home again. I totally support HOAs, but I think these guys are a little power hungry.

Our HOA is pretty non-existent except for the issue of TRASH CANS! I'm sorry, but 1 time a year leniency on leaving your cans out seems pretty decent to me. We have left ours out 3 times in 3 years and are being threatened w/ a fine.

That's my gripe about HOA's...

It's a 1981 Camaro. happy.gif

What's the enforcement mechanism here? Is it only guilt and existential angst, or do they show up at your door with torches and pitchforks, or do they levee fines somehow?

HOA's suck. In my neighborhood an open garage means come on over and have a beer neighbor. Neatness is OK but leave that up to the individual person to decide what that is for there property. When we bought our home we had 2 no's on our list. No busy street and no HOA.

The Parkway is a v. safe neighborhood, but it charges a lot considering it's not even a gated community....Also, there is a certain stench from the creeks during the spring..

do these folks have arrest powers in addition to the fine authority. do they send letters or come in person and if they come in person they should be required to read you your rights.

some times I have heard people with little going on in their lives and who have no friends become home owner assn police and that is very bad.

Is your 3 year old yard art ugly? Perhaps you should invest in new art...

My brother has lived in the Parkway for 6-7 years now, and I've never heard him complain about the HOA. He had a pool put in a couple years ago....wonder if they hassled him about that?

We chose the Parkway because of how it looked. We read the rules and signed.

Sometimes we get a notice for this and that, and comply. We submit something for approval, get denied. Fine. We want to change the color of the house. We get approved under X condition. Fine. It's a balance, and they seem to be consistent. We comply, because we signed, and in the end there is no denying it, the community looks awesome.

This is not our first house. We were looking for a real HOA after living in a neighorhood where everything seemed to be allowed and you couldnt get anybody to enforce even simple common sense rules.

Absolutely no regret about buying our house in the Parkway. And would do it again.

Funny thing about this.....I was getting notices about not having painted my satellite dish. So i painted it. Then I got notices about the wiring not being painted. So I painted them. Then I received a notice because part of the paint on the top of the dish was starting to fade. I decided not to do a thing about it. Kept getting letters. Still did nothing. Then I received a "formal complaint" from some yahoo and that I was lucky enough to be brought before the "board" for a "hearing". Then I went onto read who the "formal complainer" was. Some guy.....that lives in Serrano!!!!!! He doesn't even live in the neighborhood.

So what I'm guessing is Mr. Snooty gets in his BMW or Mercedes and decides to harass us valley folks.

Or he owns the rental across the street.

Wow, our society truly is going to hell, isn't it?? It's enough to just shake your head and admit the terrorists (lawyers) have won. Moral of the story: HOA's can be a nightmare, I guess.
