We just ate at O'Connors Santa Maria Grilll on Greenback. Loved the tri tip sandwich and fries. Give it a try.

So they serve Irish-Spaniard cuisine?

That's who did my wedding, and does a lot of my husbands work functions. I think I am going to use them for the baby shower too. I like them a lot.

Yes, this is the same company. They moved to Orangevale. It used to be another BBQ place. Now it is O'Connors, they still do the catering and now have a restaurant too. I think they have been open a few weeks now.

Oh, is this the place that took over Armadillo Willy's? I was sad to see that go, because I used to love them in San Jose, but it wasn't the same in the 'express' mode.

for some reason that's a tough spot for a restaurant. Probably being up on the hill a little bit, it seems out of the way and hard to see. Even with a blow-up armadillo it seemed it was hard to attract attention. We'll have to give it a shot some time.

Where is it?
Hard to believe most of the East Coast still doesn't know what tri-tip is.

It's Yumm-O!!!
Our neighbors own it....super nice people!
And the Mac-n-cheese is the BOMB!
It's on Greenback just past Dairy Queen (aka...Drug Deal Central)

I was a regular at Armadillo Willy's. I was sorry to see them go. AW was not the greatest but fairly decent. Very personable servers.
Been to O'Conner's 3 times so far.
1st, shortly after they opened. Ribs were overcooked to the point of being rib jerky. Rib's were very salty too. The sides were ok, chili and garlic mashed potatos.
2nd a week or so later. Rib's were cooked totally differently. Ribs were much better this time. Got garlic mashed and mac and cheese for the sides. Mac and cheese must of sat out too long. Macaroni was crunchy on the edges.
3rd visit. Got a combo deal, Ribs were not sufficiently cooked, tri tip was ok, brisket was great. Got the garlic mashed and Mac again. Mac was crunchy again. Maybe this is just normal there.
Overall i'd rate them a bit less than average. Portions have not been too consistent, typically pretty big (I usually get it to go, and the containers they use have been different each time). Biggest disappointment has been that the meat has not been consist in it's preparation.
I think i'll give them some more time to get their routine down and try again.

Dear Bigeater,
Thank you for comments and especially thank you for not giving up on us!
My partner and I bought O'Connor's Catering in Carmichael, February of last year. In January we opened O'Connor's Santa Maria Grill and Catering in Orangevale. We are excited to be so close to Folsom as that is where both of us live.
We are passionate about cooking over open fire and while we have been doing it for catering for some time we indeed are fine tuning our product to suit it for our restaurant.
I must say I was surprised to find a thread about us so soon. I just want to thank all of you that have visited us in the past and trust me when I say we are doubling our efforts to bring the finest in open fire barbeque to the Sacramento valley.
If anyone would like to provide additional comments please don't hesitate to email me at:

p.s. Bigeater, make sure you contact me, i'd like to do something nice for your patronage!
