My official nomination:
Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge
...after all, Johnny Cash put this town on the map, and you will have a decent view of Folsom Prison from it.

But surely they are going to name it after some obscure local potentate that 95% of us have never heard of and the other 5% really hate.

Obscure local potentate? Come on, just because YOU wouldn't have heard of that person, doesn't mean it's not important to Folsom. Keep in mind 95% of Folsom residents have only come here within the last 20 years!
Maybe you should educate yourself on those individuals who are part of Folsom's history and contributed significantly to making it so attractive to those of you who came here in those last 20 years.

Yeah, you're one of the 5% who are really going to hate who they name it after.

Aw, such positive commentary. Even a simple post about naming a bridge can stop your sour puss replies. Have a nice day Lefty.
While Johnny Cash did help put this town on the map, I don't think a memorial in his name is fitting. I would rather call it the Bridge to help El Dorado County get to Placer County and vice versa Bridge. After all, that is who it will benefit the most, while routing more traffic through my neighborhood from distant lands like Colfax & Placerville.
After posting on the accident post about the other new bridge, I now vote we call the newer bridge the new new bridge, or maybe the gnu gnu bridge just to confuse the little ones trying to learn english. Just the other day I was helping my Kindergartner read and he was having problems with new words. Like how do you teach how gh sounds. The ghoul went through the rough waters. Geez!!!

I'm glad we get new infrastructure that doesn't fall down, but naming these things is an exercise of self-congratulation. They're welcome to it, I don't grudge it, but it doesn't matter.
