A few weeks back, two of our trucks were broken into. They are older Toyotas and who ever it was knew how to get them open. They didn't touch the stereos or CD’s, just went through them and took all the change. They also went through our neighbor’s Toyota truck and that same night a Toyota 4-Runner was stolen from in front of someone’s house. The owner has posted a “be on the look out” type letter on Craigslist so I called him to find out how far from me he lived and his house was maybe 5 minutes away from mine.

Last night my car was gone through as well. Now, I don’t drive an older Toyota truck but that doesn’t matter. I made it even easier for them and just forgot to lock my door! They took a brand new sheet set I had on the passenger seat (who steals sheets?!) and rifled through my glove box and console for money but didn’t take my CD’s.

We were lucky in that we didn’t lose anything important except for a little peace of mind. I still wanted to give my fellow OV’ers a heads up though, just in case!

make sure they didn't take your garage door opener and clone it.......bad idea to leave those in the car......

Sounds like some kid has himself one of those door lock thingys and is using it to his advantage. I recommend someone hide in wait with some pepper spray and a digital camera. Get a good photo and stop his endeavors for a night. Then turn the photo over to the police.
I would rather be Backpacking

Our neighborhood is by the Madison and Greenback intersection, on the La Petite side. We’ve lived here for over ten years and this is the first time anything like this has happened to us.

I just found out today that two other cars were hit the same night mine was. Since they weren’t as courteous as I was by leaving every thing unlocked, their cars were actually broken into. One was a Toyota and one wasn’t but it was a truck. Whoever it was took their phone chargers (along with other stuff) which is weird because they didn’t take mine. Not that I’m complaining!

Lauren: One thing I have noticed is that the cars were hit when they were parked where the owners can’t easily see them so keep your Yota right out front (if you’re over by me, that is). We’ve changed up our parking so we can see everything and have put up motion lights. It’s like staring at the sun when that baby comes on and it lights everything up so I hope it’s a deterrent.

Hope this info helps!

I am near that area.

Same thing happened to my roommate. Same MO (cannot see the vehicle from the house).

Broke into his company van and stole all his tools, specialized equipment, cable boxes (which are worthless), etc.

Looks like some theifs might be sweeping the area.
