Did you miss the opening?
It was very good, but don't worry, I made an HD video - see the story

Folsom Takes a `Sentimental Journey` Into The Future

Also, I got a guided tour of the parking garage and Sutter Street on one of the four new pedicabs.

I'll have that video in another story, hopefully on Sunday.

Actually it was the City staff-- What you do if given the option- Work or take part of the day off so pretend to appreciate a new garage ? smile.gif

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Comments on snippets from the article:

QUOTE
Councillor Kerri Howell said although it has taken a long time to get to this point, it is a gorgeous building and praised the community's spirit. Saying that she was amazed by the number of people turning out to the opening of a "parking lot," she added "I want to thank all the engineers and architects involved, all the contractor folks ... all the people who do the technical stuff."
I think the last eight words can be translated to - all the people with more brains than I have.

QUOTE
Andy Morin suggested that Light Rail commuters who have a 3 hour working day could still park here.

Andy, better keep your day job, cuz as a comedian, you suck.

QUOTE
Council members reiterated that "This is not for Light Rail parking. This is for people to come down and spend three hours or less and shop and dine with the merchants on Sutter Street."

What, only 3 hours?! When I visit Yager's with friends after work, I nearly always was there for way longer than 3 hours. On Cinco de Mayo, I've spent from 11 AM to 8 PM at the Hacienda on the outside deck, had lunch and dinner there and many weak margharitas all day long.

And what's up with the video clip?! 59 seconds of a bunch of people standing around a small rail truck and 10-15 seconds of a bike cab. I figured a video clip of the parking garage might be a video clip of the parking garage, no just something that was kinda in the background. How pathetic.
I would rather be Backpacking

Wow, such negativity and hostility. And it's such a beautiful sunny day, too.

Thanks newsblaze! I would've gone if I wasn't out of town, and it's nice to see someone took and posted video.

300 Folsomites? Sweet. Did they hold off the great homeless army of 1 million who came on lightrail?
We all dream of a world of sunshine and rainbows and peace. The problem is some people think this would be a great place to live, while others think it would be a great place to pillage.

I don't think Folsom's homeless army is that big, but I've heard that the Homeless in Folsom actually work to prevent other homeless from coming here so as not to ruin what they have.
I understand it's like the police know about some of the permanent homeless and they kinda leave them alone as they run off the transients that try to come here.

OK, wait for the next clip - in places I changed the speed to 400%
- and I chopped some of the scenes.

Back in about 40 minutes after it finishes renderig and converting to Flash.

We have high class homeless here - most of them wearing suits!

I added the final video to that story.
This is using the Grandmas and Grandpas Musical Entertainment group song and some of the opening speech and its a guided tour of the garage and the view from the top of the garage.

Then tomorrow, I'll do another story on driving around in the pedicab, with a video

This shows how much you know about your council. Kerri is saying the technical people LIKE HER. She is a corrosion engineer.
