We've only been here a year (from the Bay Area as well) and were worried about the snakes, but haven't seen any yet...I think if you are closer to open land you'll probably see some...especially where there is construction going on.

While running with a friend in one of the Broadstone neighborhoods the other night (along Halidon way), she almost ran over a snake. Literally. She had to do a hop to miss stepping directly on it and then sped up, of course, to get away from it.

It was a California King, though. Not a rattler. We assume it was probably someone's pet, as a lot of the information we found on the internet indicated that they are a popular pet.
THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING MY GIRL.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

Had 2 baby rattlers (at different times) curled up on our front porch. But that about 9 years ago, we'd just moved in and there was a lot of construction in the neighborhood. Nothing since.

Welcome to Folsom!

We had a baby rattler on our walkway to the front door just last year.

Also... have seen one sprawled across the American River Trail quite a few years back.

We saw quite a few snakes in/around our old house in the parkway - about 8-10 years ago. At the time there was tons of open field behind our house, and then they started building Empire Ranch. Since we moved to Empire Ranch (2003), we've never seen one.

Just be careful when there is a lot of brush, and keep your eyes open.

We've got lots of werewolves, too. Be careful.

I am in Lexington Hills and have seen quite a few along the bike trails and my neighbor across the street had a baby in her garage last summer. Also worked for Landscape company that does most of Folsom and the guys brought a big one in last year in a 5gal drum so we could see it. They are pretty big and loud. Kids at Oak Chan have seen them also.

I am from the bay area also Welcome to the Neighborhood... Just keep your eyes open when walking around at dusk and dawn that is the most common time to see them

Welcome to the 'hood. Where y'all from in the Bay Area?

I haven't seen any rattlers in my 7 years here, but about 3/4 of people I've talked to about it have.

As Brown says, do be careful of Werewolves.

We saw a couple in my mother in laws breeze way in those apts behind Cal fitness center. She was right next to the wet lands. I hate snakes. We live in Natoma Station and have never seen one over here.

Welcome to Folsom

in the 5 years I've been here the only place I ever saw a rattlesnake was out at a winery near Plymouth. I haven't seen any snakes in town here yet, but I have seen (on my front yard) deer, turkey and skunk, oh and the occassional duck landing in my pool

My neighbor had a rattler (baby) crawl into her apartment last spring. I had one under my master bedroom a few months ago that was at least 4 feet long. Oh, and a few days ago, we had to get someone to come out and take one out of our front entrance way at work. ( in Rancho Cordova).

and yes there are mountain lions out here ---even tho every one on this board wants to argue. One of the ladies that has her daughter on the same softball team as my daughter--told me last night that they came across a fresh carcass last week. She called the game lady--cyndi --and she came out and picked up the body.

We also have bobcats-and my dog treed a raccoon a few weeks ago. Thankfully the raccoon was feeling nice--cause it looked to be about twice the size of my dog. ( well, at least in furr)

We have a major goose issue here--

But by and far the worst of your pest issues is gonna be the amount of water "pests" that live close to the river. Both human and insectile.

Keep your screen door closed and never leave your door open " for a sec " without that screen door firmly closed.

And yeah, I need to re-home one of my wherewolves.

Only good homes need apply, though.

Thank for all the "Welcomes" and replies, I appreciate them all!
Now I just hope I never have to run into one!!

Folsom is Beautiful, we love it, the only hindrance for me is the whole snake issue, (as it is my Biggest fear)

Btw, We just moved here from San Jose :-)
