We've only been here a year (from the Bay Area as well) and were worried about the snakes, but haven't seen any yet...I think if you are closer to open land you'll probably see some...especially where there is construction going on.

It was a California King, though. Not a rattler. We assume it was probably someone's pet, as a lot of the information we found on the internet indicated that they are a popular pet.
We could not be doing this without you.
Much love and gratitude.

Just be careful when there is a lot of brush, and keep your eyes open.

I haven't seen any rattlers in my 7 years here, but about 3/4 of people I've talked to about it have.
As Brown says, do be careful of Werewolves.

in the 5 years I've been here the only place I ever saw a rattlesnake was out at a winery near Plymouth. I haven't seen any snakes in town here yet, but I have seen (on my front yard) deer, turkey and skunk, oh and the occassional duck landing in my pool

and yes there are mountain lions out here ---even tho every one on this board wants to argue. One of the ladies that has her daughter on the same softball team as my daughter--told me last night that they came across a fresh carcass last week. She called the game lady--cyndi --and she came out and picked up the body.
We also have bobcats-and my dog treed a raccoon a few weeks ago. Thankfully the raccoon was feeling nice--cause it looked to be about twice the size of my dog. ( well, at least in furr)
We have a major goose issue here--
But by and far the worst of your pest issues is gonna be the amount of water "pests" that live close to the river. Both human and insectile.
Keep your screen door closed and never leave your door open " for a sec " without that screen door firmly closed.
And yeah, I need to re-home one of my wherewolves.
Only good homes need apply, though.

Thank for all the "Welcomes" and replies, I appreciate them all!
Now I just hope I never have to run into one!!
Folsom is Beautiful, we love it, the only hindrance for me is the whole snake issue, (as it is my Biggest fear)
Btw, We just moved here from San Jose :-)
