This is the first year we've had the boat. My son likes to wake board and we all like tubing. None of this is possible with the 5mph speed limit that Folsom Lake will have next month. So where do people go in Folsom when the Lake is closed? Is Rancho Seco a good place or is it too small?

Sacramento River is probably your best bet....

I know this will be the 2nd year the lake sucks....I blame Al Gore... and the folks that operate the dam....

you can also blame the enviro wackos because we can never build another dam...

I'll probably be dead by the time they raise Folsom dam... they were also supposed to add I don't know how many hundreds of slips and have another Marina...

So.. just fill up the tank and take a drive to the river.... launch at either Miller Park or Discovery.. if you want to save gas getting to the smooth water... launch at Garcia Bend...

Buy your kid a whitewater kayak and head for the river!

Oh and there were plenty of waterskiiers making fun wakes for the canoe at Jenkinson Reservoir last weekend.

I take my kayaks to negro bar - bring your canoe there sometime, there's good paddling and scenery in that area

Last night on the news they interviewed a guy from Folsom Marina. The focus of the story is that the slips are closing the first part of July but then he threw out this bomb shell. I just called the marina and they said that somewhere between 375 and 400 they usually have the 5mph speed limit. We're at 425 last I checked and its suppose to be dropping pretty fast.

I've never been down there. I think of the river as being narrow, is it wide enough to tube/wakeboard?

Clementine just outside of Auburn. Best kept secret around here for wakeboarding.

I would agree, although a lot of people swear by it. Just seems like there are more water hazards (i.e. logs, debris, etc.) and more people drinking while boating.

Clementine has that silly rule about no towables though. Not sure what their objection is but towables are probably more popular than wakeboarding or skiing.
