2 years ago, I asked you to submit questions you'd like answered by people running for City Council... it's time again. a few people have filed (more on that later), and I will be sending them questions on September 1, which they will need to answer and return to me. Keep in mind we have thousands of readers who could affect the outcome of the election.
So send them in on this thread! Please bear in mind, questions only. This thread is not for debate or back and forth. Any such posts will be split off or likely deleted.
My questions:
1) What do you think are Folsom's top 3 priorities that you plan to address as a member of city council?
2) What's your take on the Johnny Cash Bridge situation.

- what would you do to improve Folsom and make it nicer for the community?
- what is your position on future housing and commercial development in Folsom?
- do you believe in keeping open space for future generations?
- which is smarter? keeping within a given budget by reducing expenses or raising utility rates/city taxes to help with budget overruns?

What would you do to promote bringing more jobs to Folsom?
Would you consider renaming the bridge to the Johnny Cash Memorial Bridge?

Quest 2: Would you support the placement on ballot the proposition - with a very simple language and no gimmicks - around people voting on development south of 50?

Would you consider a city wide vote to change the name to the new bridge (preferably not johnny cash bridge)?
As the city continues to grow and more schools are built it will become difficult to keep a large portion of Folsom's youth in sports and Park and Rec. activities; especially during non school periods. What would you like to see promoted for our youth, in the future?
There has been some speculation that the Folsom PD and the Folsom Fire department has not been able to stay funded and manned with the ratio of city devolpment and growth. Can you give us an example on what types of ideas you would propose or support to ensure the safety of our quickly growing city?
Besides basic safety and health what would you consider a priority to services most needing attention to our fair city?

Considering the mess currently with traffic at Iron Point and East Bidwell- especially left turn onto Iron Point from the freeway and more the lack of the right turn lane from Iron Point to East Biwell toward the freeway, how will the city mitigate the huge increase in traffic once the new Mall is operational ?
If a lane was put in from IP TO EBW - that would reduce the go through lanes by one and it does not appear that the street is planned to be widened to add another lane.
You think the Galleria if Roseville has traffic issues- just wait ... at least THEY planned for 3-4 lanes and right turns ahead of time...
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

Given:
The results of numerous polls show that over 70% of Folsom residents oppose taking COUNTY permanent open space south of 50 and developing it. (With only about 10% actually in support of such development)
Question:
- Would you support a simple initiative to require that any development south of 50 within our SOIA and in areas further south, (any areas that are outside of the County Urban Services Boundary (USB) ) be approved by direct vote of Folsom residents?
- If you do not, please explain why?
- If your answer to 2. above relies on the current Councils attitude that Folsom residents are not smart / informed enough to understand this issue, please explain why you think they would still be smart enough
to vote for you?
Regards,
Bob

3. Do you think the mayor should be elected?
