I asked the five City Council candidates to answer 12 questions, so we can understand what they think and what they want to do for Folsom.

This story is the explanation of the purpose and the questions.
In brief, the purpose is to "Meet the Candidates"
Folsom Local News To Question Council Candidates

If you have specific questions for the candidates and you leave them here, I will gather them all and try to ask them over the next few weeks. If there are a lot of different questions, there may not be enough time for them all.

Look for the first two responses on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Honestly, I think these were cotton candies lobbed at him.

As for South of 50, the question needs to - will he support the idea that Folsom residents will get to vote on any plan that is proposed before moving forward on anything. Or he is going to invoke the Measure W and Visioning Process?

My guess is latter - but, would nice to know what he has to say about it - before the elections.

I've read Starsky's response and while I wouldn't like the Central Business District to become depressed, I am concerned about his statement about procuring other parcels and a new way of living and shopping in that district. I only hope these plans don't involve expanding the recevelopment district to make eminent domain easier. I also hope that residents and businesses that will be affected are given a chance to particpate in this process.

I'd liked to see more focus on infrastructure - water & sewer pipes and roads in the older neighborhoods, which is what Ms. Younts seems to be concerned about, also.

Would you prefer it if I put on my gladiator gear and beat up each candidate, dragging up any dirt or hearsay I could find, pushing my particular slant? Sorry, I don't do that. This is a chance for the candidates to tell us, in their own words, who they are and what they will do for Folsom. That sets them all off on the same footing and it begins a relationship with them.

Everyone here has the chance to put forward more in-depth questions that I will ask later.

I think S50 is a huge issue and they should be asked more in-depth questions around major issues of such magnitude.

As I said, asking them if they are for allowing Folsomites to vote on any plans that city hall cooks up for S50 is fair game.

They'll either say YES....or NO.

I got no issues with having them explain themselves in their own words - but, then why ask any question at all?

I don't wanna know if they are paying their taxes, cheating on their spouse or gay or whatever...just, what they wanna do in S50 and how they will go about it. More importantly, will they allow vote on the plan - or they feel they are entitled to do whatever they want under the Measure W and Visioning Process umbrella.

Thanks.
Well the first set of questions is designed to
a) set up a dialogue because only Jeff Starsky knows who I am, the others don't.
b) find out what they think the the most important things
c) what they think about those issues
d) let FolsomLocalNews readers and MyFolsom readers see if they agree on whats most important
e) get a discussion going here so we can see if there is a consensus on what are the most important issues

Now we have a set of things to ask in round two.

I could have just worked out what I thought were the most important things, but is much better for me to hear what you have to say. We can't all go out individually and ask the questions, so I'm trying to be helpful and be a conduit.
