I lost our Cockatiel. We all miss her very much. My kids are devestated and I miss my buddy. Her name is Coconut and she is a Cinnamon pied with orange cheeks.

She is very friendly and will come to you if you call her.

I lost her near El Dorado, Cameron Park, Rescue area. Near Green Valley Elementary and Pleasant Grove Middle School.

We are very sad. Of course there is a reward.

Thanks in advance.

Matt

I am so sorry to hear that.

I have a great little cockatiel named Honey. We lost her once and got her back the next night. I know how tough it can be on the family.

Put an ad in Craigslist and contact all of the vets in the area, as well as animal control.

Best of luck to you

Hi Steve, I found this site by finding your old postings from 2006 on this subject through google. I'm trying to hit as many sites as I can. How did you find Honey?

These little birds really work their way into your heart, don't they?

Hi Matt -
I just wanted to give you a heads up that I moved this in to the EDH discussion area. We have a MyFolsom Pets section but I think if you find your bird it will be more likely in the EDH area.

I got rid of the double-post too - most people just search by "new posts" anyway.

We got tons of calls from our ads, with people as far away as Roseville claiming to have found her, but I guess there are lots of lost cockatiels out there, 'cause none were her.

My wife put up flyers on neighborhood mailboxes and a guy around the corner called to say that she was sitting in a tree in front of his house when he got home the night before.

Yes, one can quickly grow attached to a cockatiel. Very smart and affectionate little birds, they are.

Put out her cage. If she is still nearby she may come back to it if they see it. They don't recognize the house from above. We have caught other lost cockatiels that way. Good luck.

Thanks, we have had the cage out since she flew off. We keep the lights on it so she can see it in the early morning and evening hours.

I am amazed at how many of these cockatiels fly away every day. It is just their nature, they are wild animals. To anyone who has a cockatiel or other bird, please learn from my story, don't just think it won't happen to you, that is what I thought. Redouble your efforts to keep doors and windows closed when the bird is out.

My first psittacine was a moustached parakeet. My second was an orange wing amazon that I let fly free. He'd take a few laps around the neighborhood each evening pre-dusk every day for almost 2 years. One day my brothers were wrestling in the house and burst through the door in my room startling the bird, which promply flew out the window (conveniently left open for him). Instead of taking a few laps, he just kept on flying. Never saw him again. Needless to say, I wasn't too happy with my brothers smile.gif
