Do you think it will be as hard as it has been in the past to buy a Wii for Christmas? Where can I buy one? Any recommendations on what or what not to buy as accessories/games?

I recommend you don't buy one. The games are awful save for a few bright spots. If you want to play video games, get a PS3 or Xbox. If you want exercise, go outside.

Don't forget bundles at Costco, my favorite store. smile.gif

Getting the console shouldn't be a problem, getting the good games may be more challenging.

Accessories: just more Wiimotes and nunchucks so multiple people can play. I'd skip the fluffy stuff (like steering wheels, bats, etc) and just get more games. If by chance you don't have one already, get a wireless access point / router / whatever so that you can play on the internet.

Games: highly recommend reading reviews on game sites, Amazon.com, etc before you buy.

We have a blast with ours. There are some pretty good games for it. Wii sports is fun (that comes with it), and the Rayman's Raving Rabids series is fun too. I hear that Super Mario Party is a good family oriented game. It plays like a board game, but with mini wii-mote related games in it as well. Actually, I hear all the Mario games are good on there.

They will also be coming out with a Star Wars - Clone wars game pretty soon where you use the wii remote as a light-sabre.

Hope that helps. smile.gif

They were selling Wii at Costco, but their display has since disappeared. Walmart usually has them, but they bundle it with things you sometimes don't want or need. I'd buy one now, you can always return it or sell it on eBay if you change your mind! biggrin.gif

I really think it depends on who's using it. For a parent playing with her 6yo it's perfect. If you want to play GTA:IV obviously not.

Videogame elitist!

Just because the Wii doesn't have high definition graphics, discrete surround sound, HDMI, a hard drive, Blu-ray, DVD movie playback, Bluetooth, Ethernet...and is basically a Gamecube with a motion sensing controller, doesn't mean it isn't a worthwhile game system! wink.gif

Are wii's showing up at used stores yet (play N Trade, Game Stop)? I'm mildly interested in it, but I am definitely waiting for a used condition price tag.

or

I've seen them around often enough that unless you're in a hurry, you should be able to pick one up within a week.

Target in EDH had two of them a couple of days ago. I've seen them at Fry's. Costco has had them every couple of weeks.

My wife and I have been using the Wii Fit for several weeks now. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Works miracles for your balance and center of gravity. Plus while i'm perfectly happy to do yoga and aerobics in my living room, I sure as heck wont be doing it in public with other people watching me look like a dork... smile.gif

We just picked one up for our daughter's birthday (shhhh)! It was not a problem at all - hubby went down to Game Stop and got one right away!

You forgot to add that it will ALSO play Gamecube games, can't beat that it's a two-fer one!

I saw plenty of Wii's at Costco on Tuesday this week. The hard item to get is the Wii fit. If you see it buy it!
