If you put out some dirty laundry and/or a dirty litterbox, the smell could help Shadow find his way home. Although, depending on how recently you have rescued him, it may not matter. Also, check with neighbors, so often a missing cat is holed up in a garage less than a block away.

Thanks for the ideas... we did throw out a sweatshirt and blanket. We have "owned" him for about 3 months... the story is, he was just a vagabond kitty, very thin that wandered the area, we gave him some food and he stuck around, we took ownership, but have 2 other male cats, both fixed... so we didn't want to rush bringing him in, as he isn't fixed and there was some kitty tension, so we spent the last few months bringing him in for longer periods, or as long as he would stay in... to his dismay, he wants to be an outside kitty, We brought him in for 3 days around halloween because he is an all black kitty we were nervous of freaky people, but our intention was to get him fixed right after christmas and then permanently trap him in the house. I am not a supporter of outside kitties, but since this was his lifestyle and i have 2 other cats I thought easing him in slowly was the right thing... I regret it...

He has not left the front yard or the vicinity of a 2 house radius in 3 months, but I fear, coyote, or new people, or car got to him... and maybe... like MrsTuffPaws said... it may not matter because we may not have "owned" him long enough.

I REALLY hope we find him

I hope you find him well, but I thought Cat's owned their people, not the other way around.
I would rather be Backpacking

I have had a black cat with longish hair literally "meowing" all day in front of my house on Singer Ln. in Briggs Ranch. If you want to come see it, let me know how to get in touch with you.
