Tragic accident.
Otherwise, I am rather unaffected.

For being heartless to the news of the death of a child yet in other ways "perfect" (your words), I guess you should.

No, you don't have to do everything. I could have googlenews it myself, but my point was to the OP, I feel if they are going to start a topic like this, it would be nice/expected if they provided a link to the story, or a cut & paste of the story.
And in response to the story, another example of "A parent should never have to bury their child".
I feel so sorry for John & his wife.

Hi Chip-
I'm affected as a parent, imagining that their hearts are broken, that life will never be the same for them, that they will miss their boy everyday for the rest of their lives. . .

Kids die every day, sadly...their parent's hearts are broken every day...
I feel no more sadness for the Travoltas than I would for any parents...I don't focus on "celebrities".
Yeah, I know that's not 'politically correct'.

No, I will not light a candle. That's the Travolta's job.
A life-changing, tragic event for the Travoltas.

Every time I have listed a death on here, I have received the same thing from people in Folsom. Big deal, it doesn't effect me, etc. It is sad and I feel for the family.

This is true, and I expected it.
I don't know what makes people do that sort of thing. We could have the same attitude about anyone's death, but why?

That goes without saying...but there are many that feel the need to say it.
That's OK...if it makes them feel better.

I think being childless is why this doesn't impact you. Before I became a Dad, this sort of news didn't hit me the same way it does now. My feelings of sadness for John & his wife are not because he is a celibrity, but because they are parents.
