[Lexington Hills]

We just moved in not too long ago and at the time all the foyer lights were fine. Well now its a couple months after and 2 of the 4 are out. The chandelier is in an awkward spot and I can't get to it with a regular 15' ladder. How do you change the lights without having to get scaffolding??

We have the 2 story model that has the two bathroom slit windows in the front. It reminds me of a battle fortress, haha.

How about a taller ladder?

I was thinking either a taller ladder, or hire someone to come add chain & wire or whatever to lower the chandelier to a comfortable height for your 15 ft ladder.

That would be my approach.

Thats the thing though, the ladder is tall enough, but there is no convenient wall to place it on to get within 5 feet of the light.

I was thinking of that light extension tool, but it didnt look like it had an attachment to grab a light from the top. These are chandelier lights and you have to unscrew them from the top.

I'm going to ask one of my neighbors with the same model to see what they do. If I don't figure something out I'll give you a call Jeff.

But I would probably still look at doing something so that wasn't a regular occurence as I would hate to pay someone to replace lightbulbs everytime one or two burns out in that chandelier, maybe see if you can use an LED light bulb as they are supposed to last like 20 times as long as most incandescents.

yeah i guess i failed to say its an extension ladder. You know I never thought they made scissor type ladders that tall, but now that you mention it I vaguely remember one of my neighbors with a huge ladder like that in his garage.

Problem is LED lights stink. They are completely one directional lighting and would be not the correct choice for foyer lighting. Use regular bulbs they will last long enough.

i paid some electric guys to replace my ceiling fan lights a few years back, they used a 20 foot a-frame ladder (not something you can get everday) - best $50 i've spent

put in CFL's too - they were top-side lights, so I couldn't change them from below

honestly - how to change it?

I put an ad in Craigslist, 2 guys from an Electrical company came over and changed the bulbs for me - cleaned my ceiling fans off too

cost - $75

MUCH cheaper than buying a taller ladder :D

$75 for changing light bulbs and dusting a ceiling fan? Wow. Well, at least you're helping to stimulate the economy even though you spent WAY too much IMHO.
