"Emergency crews are attempting to recover a body found floating in Lake Natoma.
A cyclist riding their bike on the American River bike trial spotted what they thought were human remains in the water this morning. Folsom police responded and determined it was a body. It's unclear if it is that of a man or a woman, or how long the body has been in the water.
A boat has been launched to recover the remains.
Lake Natoma is a recreational lake for rowing, kayaking and swimming. It's also home to the Sacramento State Aquatic Center."

I hearya. As bad as being found floating would be, the news using this cheesy graphic for their story would make it that much worse:

Yeeesh

How does one end up in the lake in the middle of winter?
Hopefully, the PD is able to able to reunite this persons remains with their family quickly.
Can't be anything worse than having a missing person and hearing news like this.

"I thought that too until they said they were yard trimmings."
"You've really got to pay attention, Lou."

suicide maybe? falling off a bridge? slipping when intoxicated into water too cold to keep afloat? heart attack while fishing on a slippery bank? I doubt its foul play.
and that Sac Bee graphic was very cheesy!!! Almost laughable.

I'm not aware of anyone locally who has been reported missing who it might be though, no swimmers or fisherman or anything, let alone victims of suspected foul play. I may have not been paying attention to the news, admittedly, and may have missed such reports, but usually if that were the case the story would have the obligatory "police aren't saying yet if this may be so-and-so who was reported missing last month", you know what I mean? That's what's kind of strange about this.
That was actually KOVR/Channel 13's graphic. In fact I'm not finding anything about this at all on the Bee site - maybe because there's not much to report about it yet. But yeah, that was a pretty tasteless graphic, and I don't exactly have high standards when it comes such things either

geez marie, that is awful. sounds like alcohol and shinanigans. I think you're right! From the photograph, it looks like it was in the shrubs down below the Lake Natoma Inn. You can't just fall down there, you would have to be taken there. The thing about the blood on the door at 718 Sutter seems odd. That would be up near Yagers, if my memory serves me right. Like maybe someone injured and trying to get into a building? But then why the car with the blood trail in the Lake Natoma Inn parking lot? wouldn't it make a heck of a noise knocking down a lamppost with a car? They must have staff on staff 24-7 at the hotel.
would it have still been one person who was distraught and drinking up on the traders lane lot, bloodied themselves, rubbed against a door, then got in their car with the bottle, drove down to the Inn's parking lot to get closer to the river, ran into a light post, finished the booze and smashed the bottle, then stumbled down the hill on the trail and fell in? what a mystery! where's gil grissom when you need him? CSI FOLSOM!!!

Apparently there were no obvious reasons as to how the person died (according to the telegraph article).
Sadly, it looks like a man died alone without family around.

He must have seen all the new tax increases for California and decided it wasn't worth working just to support the state gov't.
