On Thursday September 19th 2007, Gita and I started a journey that would change our lives. Throughout our careers we had dreamed of owning a restaurant. Our passion for food, wine and hospitality highlighted in our own business, WOW, the American dream!

Perhaps it was a dream. Unfortunately as we all know, eventually you wake up. For Gita and me, our wake up was last Friday afternoon, when we agreed with our landlord to close the doors.

As you can image this is a very hard and emotional time for the two of us, but we both understand that business is business. We have our children, our families, wonderful friends and each other to take comfort from. They are for us, our heart and soul.

So, our era at The Ravine will end after this weekend, as we will be closing the doors for the last time on Monday evening after Comedy Night.

But we are not closed yet! We still have 5 days, and as you know we love to organize a party!

We are going to keep going till the end with our regular schedule.

We hope that over the coming days you will get the opportunity to come and say 'goodbye'.

On Thursday Night DK Cellars will be at The Ravine to host our Complimentary Wine Tasting, Bill Pence will be here to Sing and host 'Music & More, and our newest recruit, Trenton Cain, our very own resident Magician will be on hand to entertain you in the restaurant.

If you can not make it on Thursday, then join us for a very special Saturday night. We have the very last Winemakers Dinner scheduled with our dear friends, Dave & Kim Pratt of DK Cellars. We have a fantastic 5 course meal organized, with each course paired with a unique DK Cellars wine. We would love for you to join us at this last dinner; we will extend the restaurant to accommodate all those that would like to celebrate our time at The Ravine. The cost is $80.00 per person, which includes all the food and paired wine. You can make your reservation by calling the restaurant on 916-983-5070.

On Sunday, we are going to have a leaving party! We will have Sinatra & Friends to sing the night away, and a bar that needs to be drained! All drinks all night will be $4.00 until it runs out! We will open at 4.00pm and keep going till one of us drops. There will be a selection of complimentary appetizers available throughout the night.

On Monday night, we will be open from 7.00pm for our Comedy night.

And then.......... farewell!

"Thanks you for the memories"

As always, take care, be safe and see you at The Ravine!

Sorry to hear this, your place was always fun and had great food. Sad to see it go. It seemed like you always had a good crowd though.

I can only imagine many other places in town will be going this route.

Ah shucks, where is a man to eat in Folsom? sad.gif

Jonathan and Gita,

I am sorry to hear of this news and wish you the best of luck in any future endeavours. It was a pleasure to patronize your place with great food, drinks, and atmosphere. Thank you for also providing me the opportunity to name the former house band, Blue Natoma.

Hmm, If I'm interpreting it correctly, just less than one week to go. My family & I went once, the food was good, a little pricier than I prefer for most of my "dining out", and a little too elegant for a small child. I'm wondering about maybe going childless this Friday night. I'll have to see what the wife thinks.
I would rather be Backpacking

Definately childless on Monday. The Comedians can get a touch raunchy!

We will have no food on Monday night, but a bar that needs to be emptied!

I'm pretty sure Mylo will brave crossing the crossless bridge to help you in that endeavor.

Good luck--The only restaurant in town I gave a full thumbs up, for.
Total bummer.

Good luck you guys. Family businesses are usually the best restaurants but this economy has not been kind to any of them.

for all of you not in business for yourself, this is a difficult decision to make. You feel like a failure. Jonathan and Gita, you gave it your best shot. Who knew the economy would take such a dive in such a short period of time. You were in one of the toughest businesses to be in even in good economic times.

my best wishes for you and your family in the future.
