Director
Folsom History Museum
Folsom, California

The Board of Directors of the Folsom Historical Society is seeking applicants for the position of museum director. The successful candidate will have strong leadership skills and experience managing people and resources in a non-profit setting. A record of strategic thinking and vision is a must along with an understanding of museums and an enthusiasm for history.

Responsibilities include:
• Management of the Folsom History Museum and Folsom Pioneer Village.
• Staff development and training.
• Leading fundraising and development activities.
• Strategic planning, marketing and managing collection restoration and preservation.
• Writing grants and publications.
• Financial planning, budget preparation and management.
• Overseeing exhibit development, membership development, education programs.
• Management of gift shop, operations and volunteer activities.
• Collaboration with other community groups.
• Community and public relations.

Qualifications, experience and education:
• Successful volunteer recruitment and building community relationships.
• Planning and executing successful grant writing and fundraising events.
• Superior ability in written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
• A degree in museum science/administration, history, business or other related field.
• Two – five years experience in a museum-related or non-profit organization.
• Experienced in preparing and monitoring an annual budget.
• Computer skills.

Compensation:
This is a full-time, 40 hour a week, exempt position commencing in summer 2009.
• $32,000. – $36,000. annually
• Benefits – two weeks paid vacation, and holidays
