VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District is accepting applications for Volunteers to assist with upcoming Special Events and Programs.

Possession of the following qualifications is especially helpful for these Volunteer opportunities:
• Experience working with youth
• Knowledge of Fair Oaks
• Organizational skills
• Interpersonal communication skills
• Dependability
• Ability to work with the public in a professional and courteous manner
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work in a crowded, outdoor environment

**The District also needs volunteers to help with pre-event and post-event office support.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE FOLLOWING EVENTS:


GARAGE SALE
DATES and LOCATION: September 5, 2009, Fair Oaks Park, 11549 Fair Oaks Blvd., Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
EVENT TIME: 8am – 12noon
VOLUNTEER HOURS: 7am-1pm -- Each volunteer will be assigned a two (2) or four (4) hour shift.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Clean out your closets and garage and make some extra cash! Individuals register for booth space to participate in a community garage sale. Food and beverage vendors on site!
AVAILABLE ASSIGNMENTS:
• 2 volunteers needed to sit at Information Booth and provide info to the public.

CHICKEN FESTIVAL
DATE and LOCATION: September 19, 2009, Old Fair Oaks Village, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
EVENT TIME: 10am-6pm
VOLUNTEER HOURS: 8am-8pm -- Each volunteer will be assigned a two (2) to four (4) hour shift.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Celebrate wonderful Fair Oaks Village and its unique feathered population at the 4th Annual Fair Oaks Chicken Festival! The Fair Oaks Chicken Festival, will commence at 10:00am and offers family oriented festival activities, including a kids’ park, craft and food vendors, great bands and dancing in the street, microbrew area, car show, an old fashioned country breakfast, and much more!
AVAILABLE ASSIGNMENTS:
• 8 volunteers needed to sell tickets.
• 4 volunteers needed to assist at the Main Stage area.
• 8 volunteers needed to assist with vendors.
• 8 volunteers needed to sit at the Information Booth and provide info to the public.
• 48 volunteers needed to run carnival games and bounce houses at the kids’ park.
• 8 volunteers needed to oversee parking.
• 24 volunteers needed to sit and monitor traffic barricades.
• 8 volunteers needed to assist with the car show.
• 20 volunteers needed to assist with event set up and tear down.

HALLOWEEN CARNIVAL
DATE and LOCATION: October 30, 2009, Old Fair Oaks Village, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
EVENT TIME: 11am-5pm
VOLUNTEER HOURS: 9am-6pm -- Each volunteer will be assigned a two (2) to four (4) hour shift.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: Fair Oaks Recreation and Park District’s Annual Halloween Carnival. There will be Games, Face Painting, Candy, and much more!
AVAILABLE ASSIGNMENTS:
• 4 volunteers needed to sell tickets.
• 8 volunteers needed to assist with event set up and tear down.
• 20 volunteers needed to run carnival games.

COMEDY UNDER THE STARS
DATE and LOCATION: August 7 & September 25, 2009, Fair Oaks Amphitheater, 7991 California Avenue, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
EVENT TIME: Gates open at 7pm.
VOLUNTEER HOURS: 6pm-11pm -- Shifts vary based on assignment.
EVENT DESCRIPTION: “Comedy Under the Stars” is back and better than ever! Join the Fair Oaks Recreation & Park District for a night full of laughs! What a great way to start the weekend. A beautiful Friday night in Fair Oaks, under the stars enjoying hilarious comedy.
AVAILABLE ASSIGNMENTS:
• 2 volunteers needed to sell tickets.
• 2 volunteers needed to take tickets at the door.
• 2 volunteers needed to assist with event set up and clean up.
