I noticed there are more than a few homes in Folsom recently painted that don't follow the beige, tan, or cream colors of 99% of the homes here....Revolutionists....
I noticed that many of these homes have odd pastel colors.....A blue house with light green trim....Ick....What is this Disneyland or Folsom?
I doubt if you can do anything besides get a sick feeling every time you drive by and think about how no one in their right mind would buy a home next to someone who paints it in non-matching colors to the rest of the neighborhood...I think it really effects the asethetics of a neighborhood and lowers property values...
One time my husband and I went on the cheap and painted our house ourselves... Let's just say you couldn't appreciate how yellow it was until the next day.....Kinda like a Monet painting...It wasn't clear until we stepped back a bit and the neighbors started inquiring....Luckily it was summer and by fall it had faded alot..We actually ended up having it professionally redone in a quieter shade of cream the next summer....Yellow is nice, but very hard to get the color right....Too light or too bright....
Americans, don't just come in one color or race.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I grew up in a house that was a light semi-bright green for years, and then was painted a bright yellow. The neighbors house was a deep dark green. The neighborhood was colorful. I find the modern soft drab tan's, beige's, grey's to be down right boring. It's like PC has come to house colors.

I know fashions change and I look forward to the day when bright, bold, colors once again adorn the neighborhoods.

Ugh...there's one on Natoma Street, I think on the corner of Wool, that was natural wood, and it was recently painted Smurf Blue, trimmed with a darker shade of Smurf Blue. The thing is an eye sore. I can't stand HOA's, but it makes me understand their usefulness...

Ha, that looks like it was painted by a pre-schooler to match their crayola set

Well, I wasn't thinking of all those colors on a single dwelling, but those colors by themselves are more in line with what I was thinking compared to the dirt colored houses most of us are living in now.

Okay. So maybe only two of those colors? smile.gif

I'm just having some fun with ya, Inwit. I get what you mean about the drab greys, tans, beiges, but I think you can have character in paint color and personalize your house without going too far and being downright garish. What would look good in Miami wouldn't necessarily look good in Folsom.

I would love to live in a rainbow colored house. The oddly painted houses spattered here and there in town always bring a smile to my face.
