I am trying to decide between trying Granitos (have read mixed reviews) or trying Visconti's with the hope that the food has improved with the move for date night tomorrow. Any thoughts?

I'd favor Visconti's.

I always thought the food was good at the old location. Did you have a problem at the old location? the new location is like triple the size and I believe their business has tripled as well. I suggest if you select Visconti's, go early, or make reservations. I usually go at 5 or 5:30 with no seating problems, but when I leave, there is nearly always a line.

Does Visconti's run any special? Kids eat free nights, etc? I've been wanting to try out their new location.

I haven't been to the new one in town, just the old one in Granite Bay.

Read this topic for more info on Granito's

Haven't been to either one yet (hopefully soon).
However, if you want consistantly awome, freshly made italian food go to Papa Gianni's in Cameron Park. Awsome.

Haven't been there for a few years but agree that was a local's secret for great Italian dining.

Went to Visconti's the other day for lunch and it was very, very good food and service.

By all that is Holy, go to Visconti's.

The only scenario I can see whereby Granito's is the better choice over even the expired sandwiches in the refrigerator of a convenience store would be if you are using the venue as a place to break up with your significant other and will not get as far as the food. The sure-to-be empty dining rooms will suck all the blood from your face, the amateurish service is likewise bloodless, and the frumpy woman tethered to her laptop at the bar all work together to cushion the blow of the relationship termination, making it only the second worst thing about the evening.

But by all means, breakup quickly, before any food comes, or you will have a scene.

To summarize:
1) Visconti's
2) Quik-E-Mart
3) Granito's

I WISH. Especially with their ridiculously over-priced kid's meals.

That's why I just usually share my plate with my child.
The amount of food on an adult plate is way more than a healthy diet requires for a meal.

I have had the mispleasure of eating at Granito's 3 times (just to get a fair assesment)
here are my suggestions.
1) Visconti's
2) Olive Garden
3) Macaroni Grill
4) Your House
5) His House
6) A friends House
7) Granito's

We have been to the Granito's in Granite Bay, the Granito's in Folsom and Visconti's...

I would definitely recommend Visconti's. That said, if you really want to try Granito's, I would go to the one in GB and sit at the "bar" so you can watch them cook your meal...that part is neat. Otherwise, I'd definitely say Visconti's.
