We have had a whirlwind with my family and this H1N1 neither case super serious but odd that the diagnosis was so different for two kids that seemed to have the same symptoms. My son (12yr old) came home from school on a Wednesday with a fever and feeling run down two days later he was feeling OK but had this annoying tickle like cough and telling me his stomach hurt (no vomiting or anything) so after two days I took him into urgent care Dr said he has bronchitis and pneumonia- he felt that it was caused by some kind of "Influenza" but wouldn't say H1N1 just some kind of "Influenza" gave him a zpak, Albuterol Inhaler and Musinex a week later (yesterday) and he is much better and hardly coughing. So now the next kid my nephew (whom my son was with during the incubation period) had all the same symptoms to the "T" he went to dr and he said he had Bronchitis and was positive (without testing) that it was H1N1 that started it..
So now my sister and I are kind of wondering did they have it? or not? and now the rest of the 2 families have been exposed our mom got something but it to was mild and she is better.. I guess it's waiting game now to see if anyone else does get it and go in and be tested -- in the mean time not sure if we should be vaccinated or

Let us know how it goes. Are you getting the h1n1 vaccine or mist? Thru your MD or Clinic?
My husband works at Sutter and nothing there yet as far as vaccine. He is going to get it.

I am so happy your children are ok. You probably did have it.
Thanks for sharing. At least your MD did right by you. Can you include the name of the Md treating and the Hospital ? If you do not want to that is fine.

The test results for H1N1 takes 1-2 weeks to come back. Based on CREDIBLE and scientific evidence as cited by the CDC and the WHO as well as Mayo clinic, this H1N1 is unusually dangerous for kids as compared to the regular flu.
My 6 year old and 3 year old as well as both the Mrs and myself also battled the flu this weekend, but not as bad as our lil one.

About 2 weeks ago, my daughter and I both had sore throat, runny/stuffy nose, feeling exhausted. But, we did NOT have fever or body aches. I wondered if it could be a mild case of H1N1, but I decided it was probably just a bad cold.
The other day I heard that some people may have H1N1 with NO symptoms, so I'm still kind of wondering...

There are tons of info out there, including the CDC, WHO, Mayo clinic and others. here are some.

Yes, I've looked at much of this information.
These sites all present the "standard" list of possible flu symptoms, but really don't discuss whether it is common to have H1N1 without fever or body aches.

I can find all the negative stories but are there any positive anywhere? I have one 9 month and one 2 year so I would like to have a hope should they come down with it...
I can STONLY suggest this. If you take your HEALTHY child to any dr's office then make the appointment so they are the first to be seen in the morning and have them wait outside until their appointment time is ready.
I went to my dr's appointments for our healthy girls well checks the other day and had to refuse to bring them into the building as well as reschedule after being disgusted by how things were being handled. There was at least 6 kids horribly sick with masks on wondering around the waiting room. There is NO rooms separated for the healthy kids... its an absolute nightmare. If the health systems can't even figure out a way to separate healthy babies from horribly sick kids then we have SERIOUS issues. I felt like it was Katrina all over again...
Dr's and staff all agreed that it shouldn't have been like that but somebody needs to do something about it.
One final note... don't go out to eat if you have a bad cough. Please! Even if its not swine flu.

Every single Dr I've talked to now basis the H1N1 on Fever mainly. Body aches are right up there too.

Sorry to hear about your family. Now there is all different types of flu, upper respiratory, etc going around. So at least the MD swabbed her. It should not take that long since the state of the art lab is in Richmond, but I guess they are backlogged. If you all had the H1N1 then why would you get the vaccine? You now have natural immunity, which is better. Anyway, it is your choice obviously, but I very happy the baby is doing better and she will continue to do so. I do not even know when we are going to get the vaccine here, I know Kaiser has it, and I know 1.3 million doses of injectable were shipped to california on 10/21/09. I know San Diego, has got alot, so maybe they are going from bottom of California to top. Good luck to you.
