I got a flier today, the "road diet" is slated to start in December and finish in March.

On Natoma Station Dr between Turnpike and Blue Ravine:
  • reduction from four lanes to two
  • add wide bike lanes (yes!)
  • parking: 10 spaces in front of the sports complex and 25 in front of NS Elementary
  • Dropoff zone in front of NS Elementary
  • "bulb-outs" at intersections
  • looks like a crosswalk and stop sign in front of the tennis courts. Still no provision for the u-turners so far as I can tell.

Those sound like some great improvements and hopefully make that area safer.

Interesting. I heard about that plan a year or two ago but nothing since then. Sounds like we'll have some fun dealing with the construction issues but hopefully it'll help. Thanks for the info!

They show trees in the median. I think it's a great plan.
- There needs to be a crosswalk from Coventry to the park.
- There will be three marked crossings at NSD & Turn Pike allowing people to cross only one street to get between Coventry and the school. (Currently they have to cross NSD AND Turn Pike. Dumb.)
- The trail connector is a great addition to the neighborhood.
- There is no need for four lanes of traffic.
- Yay for a Class II bike lane between a school and a park.
- Providing a pick-up/drop-off area for Natoma Station on NSD will remove a lot of cars from the neighborhood doing the u-turn thing in front of the school while kids are there just to get back to NSD.

Sounds like a good plan to me - but I have to wonder why Revolutionist thinks its bad?

I believe all the trees now in the median will stay there but that some of the ones along the sides are going away to make room for the parking.
