2 of my 26W fluorescent lights in my kitchen went out.

My house is only 5 years old, of course it's just the bulbs right ? unsure.gif

Replaced the bulbs, still nothing.

I pulled the reflectors out of the housing and found that one can is labeled "master" and the other is labeled "remote" meaning both lights are powered off of the same ballast unit.

I've got 110v going into the ballast but nothing coming out.

My problem is locating replacement parts. The fixtures are manufactured by "Lithonia lighting", their website does a homeowner absolutely no good. Appears to be geared toward the contractors. The employee at Home Depot has never heard of a ballast unit that powers 2 separate fixtures (he claimed to be an ex-electrician).

At this point I'm thinking it would be easier and cheaper to replace both fixtures.

Has anyone had to replace lighting fixtures so early in their home's young life. If so, what course of action did you take ?

Sounds like a Lithonia CCR-series fixture, similar to:

It's probably pretty simple to just swap out the ballast and certainly easier than replacing the fixtures.

WOW!!.....thanks lmaosmiley.gif

Looks like I was looking on the wrong website.

I would rather swap the ballast out rather than the entire fixture(s).
That can be done without going into the attic.

Don't see the ballast in the PDF, probably gonna need to call them tomorrow.

well, I took the shroud off of the ballast and actually found some more info.

The ballast is a Advance Smartmate RCF-2S26-M1-BS-QS 120V 0.47A.

Called a "local" distributor but got an after hours help desk which told me that the store in Rancho Cordova has a unit that retails for $36. Gonna give them a call tomorrow.

All fixed !

Looks like the part number for the ballast was obsolete, so I had to do some cross referencing for today's equivalent.

Installation was a snap, the hardest part was getting all the wires back into the box

Thanks for your input DavidH smile.gif
