I'm confused. So did you pay for the babies before you went into the movie or after? You said they decided to start charging after the complaints but you wrote that you paid $10 for each baby. Doesn't make sense??
And FWIW, I cannot fathom why you wouldn't get a sitter and leave the kids at home, especially at that young age. Not only could you probably use the break but how can you expect others to react when they pay the same price and they hear your kids crying??
I am very tolerant of parents with young kids cuz I've been there but there are certain times when you need to leave the little ones at home.

Besides those facts there was only 1 other couple in the theater.
Oh, and we took our 2 year old to see the movie. It's a childs movie... Although it was less of one then I had thought as it was pretty intense so I'm glad they slept.

Man I know it's late but I am totally lost as to understanding this story. Maybe tomorrow it will make sense!

Ate lunch at iHop. Drove to theaters. Asked for 2 tickets to train the dragon. Total was $21.00. Asked if I needed to pay for my 2 year old (wasn't sure). Was told yes, we need to pay for any babies. Then I said... "for the 1 year old too"? Was told yes. I said "that's new, I've never been charged for a baby before at EDH or Palladio". Their response was that they got complaints about babies crying (not my babies but others in the past) and so now they decided to charge for babies. I agreed, paid $20 more dollars, and enjoyed the movie while my babies slept on our laps.
Then I drove to EDH theater tonight (was at chili's) and asked them if they charged for babies now because Palladio just charged me $20. They laughed unsurprised and said no that they don't charge for 3 and under.
No-where in any of this were my babies a factor in any crying or anything. Nothing to do with us except for that we paid $10 each for them to see a movie.
Purpose of this thread was not even a complaint as I avoid doing that with local businesses on forums. Don't really believe in going on forums to throw a tantrum. But since we had a discussion on free kids milk the other day I thought I would point out for parents that if you have babies that you are bringing to a movie for some reason between 0-3... you will save yourself alot of money in this bad economy by going to EDH.

The point of going to the movie was to be with my kids as I've been working alot. Give them something special to do and they like movies...
I'll give Palladio my $20 if I feel like going to Palladio that day or I'll go to Regal free. Point was to make awareness of movie prices for them as I'm not the only one who takes my baby to enjoy a movie.
I don't know why everybody is so anti-take your kids to the movies. Especially if they are good. This particular movie might have been a bad choice for them but they slept anyways. My 2 year old can't wait for Toy Story 3! I'm certainly not gonna leave her (or my 1 year old) at home when I see it...
Don't pin crying babies at the theater and restaurants on everybody. My kids are great at both places. They are used to it because we eat out once or twice a day. If a baby starts to cry in a theater then a parent needs to be responsible and take the child out. It's called parenting and respect to others. It's not the babies fault but the parents.
I've had FAR, FAR, FAR more movies ruined from teenagers and parents just leaving their eleventeen year olds with their friends alone to ruin everyone elses experience. Up, down, talk, text, scream, alcohol, you name it. Maybe we should charge extra for teenagers or not allow them in a theater at all? (joke)

He was just trying to be helpful and inform people of how much things cost at different establishments. This wasn't meant to be a thread on whether one should take your babies or young children to the movies. Believe me, I'm no fan of crying babies, or other children who make noise at the movies, or at a lot of other establishments, but that isn't what this thread is about. Heck, he wasn't even complaining about it. He was just stating facts so the consumer could decide for themselves.

Lunch, Movie, Playground, Time at home, etc. It was the whole day to them and they enjoyed it greatly. Thanks!

Works for me! Nothing worse then sitting by a mom or dad that for some strange reason don't hear their two year olds babbling...but I sure do and it's not cute. Last time we went to the Palladio we had to suffer with two of the cutest little monsters running up and down the aisle....And it was a kid movie! Ughhhhhh

Nobody likes babies crying in a restaurant and the parent not taking them out.
Sick people hacking at a theater or restaurant as though their sole purpose in life was to get other people sick.
Nobody likes any of those things. We all agree on that I'm sure. People need to learn how to be respectful to others is all it comes down too. I don't want a theater to build a partition for me to bring my kids in. I know how to be respectful to others and be a good parent. Otherwise they would then need to build one for the sick people, one for the idiots, one for the teenagers, and one for younger children.
If anything why don't theaters add a funny commercial that plays before the movie starts as they do with 2-3 no cell phone commercials? May not be a solution but may make a few parents feel embarrassed if they don't follow the rules.

Yes, that was the simple point I was going for but yet I keep getting caught up in posting response to everything else said for some reason. I won't make the mistake again of posting this kind of topic here. I just thought after the free milk, and free kids meals discussion in this sub forum that my tip would be a no-brainer and helpful to parents in this economy. Instead I feel like I'm a bad parent and folsom citizen or something for taking my kids to enjoy a cartoon.
