The hearing on the Lot Y project (see details under other topics "Folsom Blvd Hotel..." and "Hotel Project vs. National Register site") is set for Tuesday, May 11 at 8 p.m. Yes, set to start no earlier than 8 p.m. as the budget is the first item on the agenda and the Council expects that hearing to take a long time. This should be the last of this particular project; we are asking that it be denied and a more acceptable project be submitted as the City cannot deny the right to build on this site. The current project counts on the use of the light rail and highway 50 corridors (i.e. public property) to meet the BASIC requirements of providing for a bike trail and landscaping which are mandated in the Natoma Station Guidelines and City codes. The project is TOO BIG to meet these requirements and fit onto the site so the current proposal asks for the use of PUBLIC lands by the developer to complete his project.

You voice is important in letting our elected officials know that the entrance to our City demands an outstanding project that meets established guidelines for development.

Steve Milne of All Things Considered on CapRadio did a short piece on the hotel hearing today. Here's the link to hear it: FOLSOM HOTEL PROJECT DEBATED - http://www.capradio....?articleid=8228.

Sucks. You can't call a pre-determined result "debated".

Kerri and Ernie voted against it... The boys club voted for it...
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

The YES votes came as expected from Steve Miklos, Jeff Stasky and a little bit surprisingly from Andy Morin.

Thanks to Kerry Howell and Ernie who strongly supported the appellants and the public and voted a big NO.

Jeff Starsky took the new tactic of using a very loud buzzer to interrupt anyone speaking at the time limit, and set the time limit for the public to 2 minutes instead of 3 minutes as was noticed would be allowed.

Well who knows where the Business Journal gets their information??? The article was erroneous in its report; the Natoma Station Community Organization and Friends of Folsom Parkways appealed the Planning decision in 2005; it took 5 years for the developer to come back with a plan to save a few more trees (this plan still removes 133 trees= 75% on site), and provide MINIMAL access to the Diggings site AND there are NOT any other intact sluice mining sites South of 50, the remnants of anything there is to be plowed over for future development. The Heritage Preservation League and both the Sacramento and Folsom Area Bicycle Advocates were also involved in this latest effort to prevent the removal of the trees, isolation and potential damage to the Diggings site (one of the FEW sights in Folsom on the National Historic Register).

Does anyone besides the business blinded in Folsom want to see no trees, no landscaping and no bike trails on Folsom Blvd?

Proud of Kerri and Ernie for standing up for what is right and best for the city. Disappointed yet again in the good ol' boys club of Miklos, Starsky and Morin for catering once again to developers who want to pave over our entire city and put mini-malls and hotels on every corner. This town is turning into Roseville more and more every day with decisions like this.

Time to replace those guys and get people in there who care about the best interest of the city over their campaign donations.

I'd really like to hear directly from Miklos, Starsky and Morin exactly how they can honestly justify the need for yet another hotel when we already have so many, including a newly built one off E. Bidwell next to 50. How many stinkin' hotels do we need sitting partially occupied/empty before they realize we have enough already?

I will miss that beautiful relaxing hillside greeting me when I get off the freeway on the way home. Folks, take photos while you can. Our open spaces are continuing to disappear.
