Will do! We were there last night for dinner. Salmon was excellent, as was the Chicken Piccata! As always!

Well, I am sad to say that this is my first negative restaurant post.

I just ordered dinner to go at Strings tonight. As it is Wednesday and it's their All You Can Eat Pasta for $7.99 ( soup/salad and bread included) I asked if we could just order the pasta to go for the $7.99 (I figured they would only save money on us). They informed me they do not honor that price for To-Go. Fine. I ordered my Cheese Ravioli dinner and paid the full price of $10.50 (with tax 11.50) and when I got home I discovered a measley 6 ravioli. Now my husband and I dine out frequently, and I am used to actually splitting entrees with him, but I really felt cheated tonight. I understand July has been killing them but I have to say with prices like this and portions like this and in an economy like this I really feel like I get A LOT more bang for my buck at Viscontis or Spaghetti Factory. I am especially dissapointed because I would like to support Strings and it's owners who seem to really care about the community. But if I am spending money, I feel I should at least get my money's worth.

My Ambien is kicking in so if what I have written is wacky cut me some slack and I'll chech it in the morning after I have rested. It sure feels as if my brain is intoxicated...

I would prefer a menu that would show percentages that would be donated to Jolene's family situation. I am single gal and don't feel comfortable to sign up and go to the fancy dinner. I have learned to dine at nicer restaurants by myself from time to time so if Strings is providing food for the benefit perhaps if customers come in and mention they'd like to help they could order off a menu that has been designed to show percentages donated for each meal. While one meal isn't much . . . if String supporters participate we might be able to create some cash flow without a lot of prep. Shoot, I would come in and order take out so I have lunches once school starts.

Lastly maybe as the family is paying the bill and they mention Jolene and her family's situation their bill can be used to pay for restaurant services and donation to the ViVaJessica Fund.Perhaps Strings could have a percentage that could be donated when individuals and families just come in and eat.

Hi

We have tried this many times. We have done it with sports teams, and schools and it does not work. The majority is not interested in spending $40 or so in order of the organization getting 15% of it. We also tell everyone in advance that we won't honor a coupon (buy one get one free) with the offer and this upsets people when they try. The only thing we have had any success with is our pancake breakfasts or providing pasta for a great price for a Spaghetti Feed type fundraiser. But the true success with these events is from the people in charge of running them.

I hope this helps.
Kim

Hi

I am sorry about your experience. We have never offered the AYCE for take out and are sticking with that. I usually work Wednesday nights but we were out of town. Our Ravioli dinners are perfect for one, since you do get salad or soup and bread. But when someone asks me if it is enough to share I usually suggest something else. There isn't a big quantity of Raviolis but they are a stuffed pasta and it is usually more filling. We hope you do come in again. We do honor most of the BOGO free coupons we have out for take out. There are many out there in the mail and we will even take most that have expired. Also, don't hesitate to ask for suggestions regarding splitting a meal. You can also get an extra side cafe salad for $3.99.
We have a great special lunch menu for $5.99 which is extremely popular

I hope this helps

Kim,
My husband and I have eaten at Strings several times over the years. To be fair, the night I ordered take out may have been an off night. I only recieved one VERY small triangle of bread, where normally we would get 4 small pieces. The salad was also a small serving, which was fine and expected. But the ravioli were a smaller portion than when ordered dining in. My theory was since I would not be eating seconds or thirds on an all you can eat night, that I would at least receive the same full size portion I have received when dining in in the past. My experience was that I recieved a smaller portion and paid more than if I had eaten in and gotten several servings of salad and pasta. As a comparison, The Old Spaghetti Factory provides a full loaf of fresh baked bread, your choice of garlic butter and/or regular butter, a side of salad (about the same amount as Strings), large servings of Spinach and Cheese Ravioli, Spumoni ice cream, as well as a drink for $9.99.
Obviously it is much more economical for us to order take out at OSF and when we choose to dine in we will do so at Strings.

Hi again

We have never given someone a different portion size just because it was a take out. I do not know what the deal was with the Raviolis that night. We always serve two pieces of bread per order. I have no idea why there would be only one piece. We have no problem if a customer asks for a extra piece of bread or two. Just let them know you are sharing and would like a couple extra pieces. The salad always comes in a small side salad container.

Kim
