Speaker Emeritus Bass has missed the majority of the sessions since March 1 while running for Congress, and yet she still has the perks that she got while she was Speaker...

While I can understand concern for safety...I don't think there needs to be 4 individuals dedicated to a former leader of the Assembly.

Me thinks that she thinks she's more important than she really is.... Another "elitist" democrat protected by men with handguns (at my expense) when you or I can not do so ourselves due to the laws she and fellow democrats supported and passed. Her life is obviously more important than mine or yours. And good to see she's running for congress....! She can join the ranks of Maxine Waters and Barbara Lee...... They don't come much dumber and far left than those two... Chris

Bass is a royal arse.

I am really sick of these jerk politicians raping our system and pillaging our tax monies to elevate themselves, its like they're on crack and the crack is our tax money... they just keep wanting more and more and more to snort and get high with.

Where did this "Speaker Emeritus" title come from? Is it something she gave herself? She is the ex or former speaker of of the California Assembly. I have never before heard the "Speaker Emeritus" title used. Willie Brown doesn't use it and he was a heck of a lot stronger Speaker than she was. Just another GD lifetime politician totally consumed with their own importance! angry.gif

Apparently, some who have served in Congress don't want to ever give up their title. I guess some feel the title they get is one that they must be addressed with forever.

Most humble people would neither expect or allow themselves to be addressed by a title they no longer hold. But others, feel a former title must be used to show respect.

It's politically correct, I guess. But, I call it BS!
