Had been in a while, but went to Mandares tonight. I was really impressed with the food & the service. It's nice to see the place is still busy. Steak salad was perfect with a glass of Lucifer.

I just wish Brent would offer better selections of non-Belgian beer.

You mean like Bud Lite or Coors Lite?

There's quite a world of beer between Belgian and Budweiser. As someone who has been to Oktoberfest - in Munch - twice I would love more Bavarian, Austrian, and Czech beers. I just really dislike Belgian.

Since he has about a hundred bottled beers of all styles from all over the world, I just have to assume you aren't trying hard enough to drink your way down the menu.

I love Manderes! Still my favorite place to go in Folsom.

I know there is. Just razzin' ya.

Do you at least think the service & food is pretty good?

Oh yeah, the food is great and the service is better than most places in Folsom - though that's not a very high bar these days (looking at you, Sports Garage.)

And DL is right - there is a large bottled beer selection though I'd wager at least 40% of those are Belgian or in that style.

I agree, that place is still great, was just there last week. Be sure to ask about their specials, their risotto dishes are outstanding

Still a favorite of mine. I take out of town visitors there. Brought a friend a couple of weeks ago, and am taking another there tomorrow night.

Great beer selection, friendly service, nice atmosphere, good food, what else is there?

They've had some good CA beers , such as Pliny the Elder.

With October coming , maybe the Beer sampling party can come back with all Oktoberfest ?
Or a full week of Oktoberfest beers with a couple of temp food additions ? Ask him.

+100

I have nothing bad to say about Manderes at all - love the place, love the people. I am not a big fan of Belgian beers and there feels like an overabundance of them on Brent's tap. I'm with Chad on seeing more southern German/eastern Euro beers - some Marzens and Pilsners, etc. That being said, I am thrilled to have a place like this in Folsom!

I am a big fan of Manderes, too. If you like Manderes, but are looking for some variety I have to recommend Samuel Horne's on Sutter. Excellent beer selection, all American micro-brews, many of which you won't find any whehre else. Dylan the owner, who is almost always there, is very knowledgable about the beers (as are the beertenders) and willing to talk. The food is really good, too.

Manderes will always be one of my favorite places in Folsom and I don't really want to derail this thread but had to throw in my 2 cents here...
I like Samuel Horne's too and have been finding myself going there more and more lately with my family for dinner - its a less crowded and easier to get into and it's nice to walk around old town afterwords and stop by Snooks for dessert once in a while. I highly recommend the burgers, they're all good - be sure to try the Johnny Cash Burger!

When my brother comes up to visit next week, we will definitely be going to Manderes.

Yeah, Sam Horne's is an outstanding addition to our fair town.
