The kids love their ketchup and syrup. Honest juice (Costco) is also HFCS free.

Same here, we always read ingredients and look for any product with that junk in it and avoid it (it's in a lot more stuff then people realize)
Here's some good info about it from webmd
If you're concerned about the amount of high-fructose corn syrup or other sweeteners in your diet, consider these tips:
- Limit processed foods.
- Avoid foods that contain added sugar.
- Choose fresh fruit rather than fruit juice or fruit-flavored drinks. Even 100 percent fruit juice has a high concentration of sugar.
- Choose fruit canned in its own juices instead of heavy syrup.
- Drink less soda.
- Don't allow sweetened beverages to replace milk, especially for children.
Get the good stuff from Vermont, it's 100% natural

We get ours from Costco that is 100% Grade A Maple. Skip that junk in old woman shaped bottles or named after some fake log cabin.
Totally agree with HFCS although some med reports say HFCS and cane sugar are about equal. Dont know about that but I used to drink mostly (well alot) of diet Coke and occasional regular Coke and I think the HFCS and carbonation affected how I ate. I now have an occasional diet soda but feel so much better in the last 6 months when I switched to iced tea, water from Brita pitcher and milk.

After reading this I was checking some labels last night and have a question. What is the difference between plain ole 'corn syrup' and 'high fructose corn syrup'? I know both are sugar, but is HFCS way worse than CS??
Thanks

I have a friend who writes a blog that originally started out about her family going HFCS free. It has kinda morphed into a healthier eating blog, but she has lots of good information about HFCS-free products and brands as well as great recipes. Oh, and she has a PhD in Chemical Engineering, so she's no dummy!

Highly recommend picking up the Kirkland or Trader Joes 100% Maple (same exact container but slightly different labels).

Switched from HFS about 6 months ago, lost 13 lbs. Not sure if it's b/c I'm drinking less soda-I switched to Hansen's and no diet soda too (aspartame is banned in many countries) and only buy Cheez-it crakcers-all the others except trader Joes have it. Let me know if u find any that don't.

My understanding is that they are different, chemically, and regular corn syrup, while not something a growing body necessarily *needs*, is not as bad for you. I am not a chemist and could not explain why, but corn syrup has been around for a long time, HFCS is a recent development, like trans-fats, to be use in our industrialized food supply.
Easy way to rid a diet of a lot of this kind of stuff is to remove sodas altogether.
