Hi everyone,

I am still seeking donations for the raffle and silent auction for Jessica's fundraiser (http://www.vivalajessica.com for more info). Some ideas are gift certificates for restaurants, salons, etc, a night or two at a vacation home, tickets to sporting events, etc. If you provide a service (web design, marketing, etc) consider donating a couple hours of your time. If you are in an industry such as real estate, CPA, lawyer, etc. consider putting together a basket with a theme such as Movie Night (gift card for Blockbuster, package of popcorn, boxes of candy, etc) or Game Night (various board games, candy, etc). If you are a political figure or prominent member of the community consider auctioning off a lunch meeting! This is a wonderful way to market yourself or your business and get your name out to alot of people all while helping a litte girl and her family with their medical costs.

We have a good selection so far, but need much more. The more items we have, the more money we can raise for Jessica and her family.

If you aren't able to donate something to the raffle or silent auction, please consider donating an item to the event. I am in need of tableware (plates, napkins, forks, spoons, knives, cups) as well as little packages of salt and pepper, and parmesean cheese, beer (looking for donations of 2-3 kegs), wine for the bar (6 cases, mixed varieties), soda and water. Every dollar I don't have to spend is another dollar Jessica's family can use for occupational or speech therapy!

I appreciate everyone who has donated so far! Deb B dropped off 4 beautiful pieces that she purchased from Clouds today. CW & Tracey L have secured several donations. Sunshine Services is donating to the silent auction as well. SacDJ is donating his dj services for the entire evening!MyFolsom is an awesome community and you guys have really come together to help out Jessica and Jolene.

There is still room at the MyFolsom table! Daveburr just reserved 2 spots and John's table will be right next door! This is a great opportunity to put some names to faces and share a drink with an online friend!

Thanks everyone!

Barb, have you contacted Robert at Lockdown Brewery to see if he could donate or cut you a good deal on beer?

My sister had a great idea that I'd like to share and see if I can find 11 other people to join in with: a blind case of wine. 12 bottles of wine that are all surprises, each a favorite of those who donated. I've got the first bottle - who's with me?

CW68: AWESOME idea! That's a great item and one I'll be bidding on myself ;)

Dave: would love to include your business in the auction and I think that's a great item to donate! email me at vivalajessica@ymail.com and we can coordinate!

Deb b: Thanks for emailing them. I spent yesterday emailing every vineyard in Fairplay and the first 15 alphabetically in Amador County! I'll mark those off my list so I don't email them too. I really appreciate it - I am in desperate need of wine for the bar!!!! And even if they can't donate a case or two, maybe they can donate a bottle or two for me to put in the silent auction with another item (like the night at Amber House B&B that CW68 got for me!!!!)

Thanks everyone, keep it coming! Makes it very exciting for me to log into Myfolsom, I never know what I'm going to see next!

Just heard back from MonteVina. They're donating two 3-liter bottles of Zin, singed by their winemaker. I'll pick them up within the next week or so.

Thanks Deb!

Will do. I'm sure the fact that we're club members at MonteVina didn't hurt, but if you can use any of the language go for it!

Tip for people who want to donate items: While large ticket items are nice for raffles and such, the items that tend to sell well at silent auctions are items people are prone to buy anyway. With the holidays just months away, anything that would make a great gift for someone else will generate bids.

I've been to too many auctions in which the organization contracted with an auction company, and mostly what they had to offer were very expensive artwork and memorabilia. Lots of people present wanted to bid on something and go home with something, but these items were beyond their budget.

I've also seen hand-made items go over well. If you're a crafter, think about donating a scarf, table runner, place mats, quilt, baby blanket, jewelry, or whatever it is that you do so well!

If you're a chef/caterer, you can offer a gift certificate to prepare a gourmet dinner for two or four.

Think outside the box. ;)

Nice! That's three of the 12 -- nine more donations, por favor?
