my daughter's car was broken into about 3-4 weeks ago, stereo stolen... and the FPD told her that there have been LOTS of car break-ins lately in Folsom.

I heard they caught some people in Briggs Ranch. Going to have to check the crime reports.

Bummer.Don't be so certain about that... our car got broken into last night in Natoma Station... cleaned it out. They spent some time doing it too. Unscrewed speakers and everything. Very odd.
I read an article in the Telegraph where the FPD is saying there is no recent increase in crimes in Folsom.
Hard to know what is the truth.

No car alarm on your car?
And I was wondering why you found it so odd the thieves would take out everything they could from your car, and seemed to have taken their time doing it.
I wouldn't park a car in my drive way over night without a car alarm on it. We may live in Folsom, but that doesn't mean there won't be robberies here.
I wonder what area of Folsom has the most car break ins.

The last time I had a break in (a few years ago, knock on wood) the officer told me that the 'kids' that do this seem to target a neighborhood, and then move on a couple of days later to a new neighborhood. I got he impression that they almost systematically go through the entire area, one section at a time. Not sure how long it takes to cycle around back to the first neighborhood, and there must be more than one group of people that do these types of things.

Good advice, however I would take it to the next step as well.
I lock and alarm my cars that are parked in my garage.
And while no system is perfectly burglar proof, the harder you make it for the bad guys, the more likely they will pass on your stuff and move on to easier targets.
So my advice to my fellow Folsomites, lock your stuff and alarm as best as possible if you want to protect it,
or don't bother locking anything if you prefer to protect my property instead, I welcome the rest of the world to make themselves easier targets than me.

Good eyes AZ.
Most 20 yr olds that DON'T get arrested are sleeping in their beds at 3:40 AM.
