FOLSOM, CA - At least seven inmates at Old Folsom prison suffered non-life threatening injuries after a riot broke out at the prison late Friday evening, according to a state prisons department spokesman.
Seven prisoners were hit with gunfire from corrections officers following the riot that broke out in the facility's recreation yard around 7 p.m. Friday, Folsom CDCR spokesman Lt. Anthony Gentile said.
Of the nearly 400 prisoners out on the yard at the time of the incident, as many as 200 inmates were involved in the fighting, Gentile said.
CDCR spokesman Luis Patino said none of the injuries were life-threatening and no corrections officers were hurt in the exchange.
At least three prisoners transported to area medical centers, while two others were being treated at the prison, Patino said.
It was not immediately clear what triggered the rioting, Gentile said.

Might serve as a better deterrent against riots in the future, and it definitely prevents 7 prisoners from rioting again.
