In most job markets, but especially in a very competitive market, you have to make sure your job hunting skills are spot on. Resumes and cover letters have to be very marketing oriented. How you tailor your cover letter, how your market what you've done in your resume, how you complete your application, how you apply (online, in person, both), how you present yourself in manner and in dress, etc. all play key roles in landing interviews and landing jobs. Too many people think those things aren't important for a part-time job; big mistake. I noticed a help wanted sign today at Togo's/Baskin Robbins and I've seen other signs up around town in the last few weeks. You're usually better off walking in to businesses with your resume, cover letter and completed application (dressed appropriately) than you are using CraigsList.
