I read in the SacBee yesterday that the owners of Sienna, Mark & Karoline Platt have signed a lease for the former Ruby Teusday location and are planning on opening a more contemporary style steakhouse.. If the Sienna is any indication that Mark is really spot on in his marketing plans and is very knowlegeable about the industry it should be a great addition in that location... It is speculated to open some time in April.... me loves STEAK !!

I was never a big fan of Ruby Tuesday (plus there are already plenty of burger and salad joints in town), so this will be a welcome change. Though I'm already a big fan of Sutter Street Steakhouse so I'm not sure this new place will lure me away.

I wish they had taken the old Zinfandel Grille restaurant location down on Leidesdorff Street near Karen's in old town. They would have been perfect there!

What kind of steakhouse will this be? A foo foo place where every steak has some special sauce or glaze it is served with or a traditional meat & potatoes joint where I can order my burnt on the outside, raw on the inside, salt & pepper it myself type place?

here's the website for their restaurant in EDH. This should give you some insight. http://www.siennarestaurants.com/

Thanks, that link proves I've been misinformed. I heard Sienna was a french restaurant, but that menu is anything but french, it's a mish mash of foo foo. Not that foo foo can't be very tasty, but there didn't seem to be a speck of plain jane.

I also would not consider that menu to be a "steakhouse", sure it has some steaks, but it had far more than that to offer.

However, if they are opening a "steakhouse" as carnivore noted, I would be inclined to expect it to be a foo foo steakhouse instead of a meat & potatoes steakhouse.

There are times I like foo foo, but when it comes to steak, I really do prefer to taste the steak and not the foo foo. Ribs are a whole nuther story, the foo foo is what ribs are all about in my book. I had some real tasty short ribs back in Virginia a couple of months ago. A very tasty whisky-mustard glaze drizzled over the melt in your mouth falling off the bone meat.

I personally do not think that a Foo Foo Steakhouse would fly long in Folsom. Maybe a bit upscale but not in the league of Sienna. They even stated that Folsom was too close to the other Sienna to allow for a similar venue.

I forget the name of the new place, but it seemed also that it would have a fish representation as well.

Another great  day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

I could really go for a nice surf & turf, not too pricy, not all deep-fried, on this side of the river.

Judging by their EDH menu, I think a cocktail bar will feature prominently in their new restaurant's design. I believe the owners have professional background with the Paragary chain, so they know what can be successful (i.e. creating a lounge gathering place that has a good profit on liquor) and creating ambiance in their dining room. I wish them success! Still think the old town location would have been better.

Wow, yesterday you were worth a penny, today, a whole $2.01

Now if you can only keep that 200X per day growth rate going, you will be rich ($16 million) in just 3 more days. :o

I didn't grow up with steaks on the menu. I think my dad made some once. Cooked them until you could have made flip flops out of 'em (he was great at creole and souther dishes).

I never developed a taste for steak. I had one last year at Ella, one at a place near 16th and J, and one a couple of years ago at Ruth's Chris. None blew me away. Don't remember having any others recently.

For a fancy joint, I love seafood, lamb and Italian stuff.
