Closed tonight at 9:00 for the last time. It was my favorite coffee shop and my second office... total bummer! There were some great people who worked there, too. Where to now?

They did have a really nice area to sit & hang out, very comfy.

It looks like the one on Folsom-Auburn @ Blue Ravine is still open, though rarely in the evenings from what I can tell.

Have you tried Coffee Republic?

I do like Coffee Republic. It's been a while since I've been there, but I'll give it another shot. Do they have free wi-fi there? I would imagine they do but don't want to assume.

I don't know. I've actually never been there. From what I've heard, it's a nice atmosphere. Guess I'll have to go check it out myself.

My favorite coffee shop is Peet's. But the seating isn't nearly as comfy as It's a Grind.

Dang it! how the heck could they be closing, it seemed so packed all the time...... now we're going to have to find a new mobile office with good java. I'm gonna miss those folks, they were some very cool people there.

That's too bad. I had never been there, but actually booked this location for a 'mobile' event. I had heard a rumor they were closing and when I asked the owner, she denied it. Wonder what happened?

My daughter's friend worked there. She told me a couple of weeks ago that they were trying to sell the place and couldn't afford to keep it open. I guess you've got to sell a lotta lattes to keep the doors open.

That's too bad. They were kind enough to donate us something - water I think? - a few years ago for our volleyball event.

The turnover in that little area there is amazing.

Typically, when I went it was packed. I would meet a friend and it would be hard to find a table for two. 90% of the people were already seated with a drink and working on a computer. My friend and I would stay about an hour and when we left all the computer users were still there and had not gotten up to order additional drinks or food. So although the place was packed I don’t believe it got enough customer turnover to support it. Perhaps a minimal charge for “mobile office” users could have saved it?

That is too bad... I used to go there for "daddy dates," and my wife used to go there to get away from us!

I noticed that quite a bit, too. Personally, I could not/ would not be using their free wi-fi unless I am a paying customer. There were several users, though, that would hardly ever buy something.

@Tracey, they still have the mobile van, though, so I am sure they will honor their commitment to you, and they still have a ton of supplies.

I've noticed that too! I see that at quite a few coffee joints, people doing work on their laptops but not spending money, and they aren't socializing or meeting with anyone, so why take up space and wifi there? If you want to hang out there, chip in for some rent and utilities or your coffee shops will go out of business.

That is truly too bad, I used to work at that location in 2006. I was one of the monday -
friday baristas, I'm not sure if any of you went to it's a grind back then but I was one of
the morning Matt crew, I worked cash register. I enjoyed working at the time, it's too bad
that small francises like It's a Grind are going under.
