Saw the black smoke when I was out for my run this morning. Saw the fire truck leaving the Blue Ravine station. Anybody know what's up?

I just checked google news and found no new stories, so the local news stations haven't reported anything yet.

Just to add, I saw the smoke from around intersection of Riley and Glenn. Looking on map, the fire may have been more towards Folsom Blvd.

The parents got out and a neighbor noticed the children were still inside; it was the neighbor HERO who went back in to get the children out safely.

Parents were going to just leave the kids in the fire????

I'm trying to keep my mind open to the possibility that there is some set of facts that excuses this...

I know. I have trouble wrapping my brain around that as well. The father was cited for being under the influence.... at 8 am.

FOLSOM, Calif. -- A Folsom couple is in custody after a fire that police said endangered their children.

Matthew Muir, 34, and 21-year-old Brittany Faulkner were arrested Saturday.

Police said the arrests came after a fire at the couple's home in the 700 block of Oakdale Street.

Firefighters said the couple was able to escape the fire, but that their children were still inside when the house went up in flames.

Investigators said a neighbor noticed the fire and rescued the children.

Paramedics said all Muir, Faulkner and the two children were treated for smoke inhalation.

Police said Muir and Faulkner were arrested on charges of child endangerment and that the couple's negligence put the kids in danger.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

I wasn't there so I can only speculate. If you wake up to a smoke filled house and barely get out yourself, I can see where you are coughing your fool head off, not thinking clearly, and in no shape to attempt to rescue anyone, even your own children. I know what it is like to not be able to breathe. I almost died once from acute respiratory failure.
Worst asthma attack of my life. I didn't have any children at the time, but I know if I did, in the condition I was in, I wouldn't have been able to do anything to save anyone's life, not while I was fighting for every breath I could get. Eventually I stopped breathing and turned blue.

Fortunately for me, emergency medical help arrived, intubated me, and I ended up in ER for 6 or 7 hours, then ICU for another 24+ before they pulled the intubation.

I'm trying to understand that as well. Which of us parents can't see ourselves tearing the sides off the mobile home to get our kids out if we had to, not just standing after there saving ourselves.

That neighbor is truly a hero.

Those parents are COWARDS and the dad is a REAL winner being under the influence @ 8 am. The neighbor is a true hero.
