Yes. Home ownership is public information.

Get me one or all of the addresses and I can look them up pretty quickly.

Heading out right now, but back at 4p then out again for our mixer at the Powerhouse Pub Patio. Come on down if you're in the 'hood.

Enjoy Thursday Night Market, Steve. It's one of the last two we will ever see in Folsom!

Who decided to end it, and why? I thought Sutter Street was being revitalized to help support more events like TNM? This is a let down to hear it's being discontinued.

A vote by who? The city council? the downtown association?

It sounds like no one wanted to do the work (or knew how) to turn it into a more successful event.

TNM was a merchant's association (FHDA) event. not only did it lose money every year, it was actually becoming dangerous. there were fights and vandalism just about every week. FHDA had hired a paid event planner to run the TNM for three years. no matter how it was changed (fewer vendors, more food, less food, etc) people did not come to support it. the biggest problem was the masses of kids who came (many dropped off by the parents and picked up after the event). while most kids were fine, they grouped together and vendors were turned off by it. no one bought anything so the vendors wouldn't commit to a whole summer of thursdays. the kids and thugs who stayed off in the shadows created issues too. they staged big fights on side streets and created trouble for the neighborhoods and the merchants in the Lakes center. no matter how much security was added, the trouble makers seemed to know how to avoid it.

FHDA tried very hard to make TNM work. the plan now is to try to come up with fewer, but better, events that bring a better mix of visitors in. Second Saturday is a prime example of that.

Bummer, but I can understand if it isn't working after all that effort it's not worth it, especially with security issues due to those punks you mentioned.

the first years we had TNM it was great. but that was 10 years ago and it (and folsom) changed a lot in the past decade. is the cancellation of TNM worth a seperate thread? or just let it go and deal with it next summer if someone brings it up.

on a bright note, the FHDA is planning a one-day foodie fest in the spring!

I was thinking the same thing @ Palladio the other night.

Where did all these 15-18 year olds come from ?
Skating, smoking, and just hanging out. Certainly not purchasing anything.

I saw stats that showed Folsom's population grew by 177% over the last 20 year, and 55% over the last 10.

I'd guess that many of the new residents were young families. Their kids are now growing up. We've got a lot of teens in town.

well, Folsom was a mixed age community until the early 1980s when they started building all the subdivisions. Most went in during the mid- to late 1990s. Most of the newcomers moved into family sized homes, three to four bedroom, two bath homes, and were attracted by the safe environment, good schools and jobs. they were nesters and most came to start or raise families. fast forward 15 years and what do you have? teenagers aplenty! back in the early years, when you went to the TNM, it was young people pushing baby strollers. well, those babies grew up!

I'm not surprised.
I was a vendor at TNM last year. The teens didn't bother me. If was the fact that I didn't sell one thing. Not one! And I paid $35/night to be there (4 night minumum). So I lost money by being there. And I wasn't the only one. The only person that made money was the frosting ladies.
Once word got around that no one buys anything at the TNM, the organizer was having trouble getting vendors in. If you want your local vendors/shops to stay in business people, you have to patronize them.

Curious what you were trying to sell? I'm going to guess it wasn't food related.
