I thinks its odd that this place does not get more mention
here. Its terrific! We are new to Folsom (since last December)
and have made a point of checking out different local restaurants,
especially the non-chain ones. We avoided this place initially, since
its a brew-pub and we are not into drinking and bars.

We finally checked it out after a month or so, and loved it.
Food and service was excellent. Best view of all the Folsom restaurants.
Not very busy for such a quality place. Bar was kind of empty.
The seafood we had was just as good as Scotts, and not as expensive.

Has anyone else tried it in the last year?

Been there a few times for job-related parties. The view is terrific.

I wanted to love it. I really did, as the view and location are hard to beat.

I tried it. Didn't love it.

I called about 430 to see if they had happy hour. 'I think so.' was the reply. I asked she could check. She put me on hold and after several minutes, I hung up.

I figured they must be busy, so we went down in person and found the place nearly empty.

The hostess ignored us, as did the bartender, who was talking to the 2 guys who were seated at the bar.

No one at the bar tables or the patio.

I asked the waitress if they had happy hour. 'Only, inside. If you sit outside, everything is regular price.'

We sat by the window, ordered drinks and apps. We had an appetizer plate that featured among other things, roasted peppers and bread. When the platter came, the bread was sitting in water which I assume either came from a failure to dry the plate after it came out of the dishwasher or from their failure to drain the peppers after pulling them from a jar. Either way, wet bread is a major turn-off.

Haven't been back since.

I hope they've improved since then.

How many different restaurants have been in that location? I went about 6 years, food was poor to mediocre. I don't remember the name, nor have I had any desire to return.

Sometimes the view just isn't worth it.

For years and years, it was called the Cliffhouse, been there many times for work functions, only went once on my own and I won't ever bother to go there again on my own, but I'll go if invited to another function. It's OK, but there are many other places I would rather spend my money at in town. I would rather drive past it and go pay more at Scott's.

Actually, if you search you will find a couple of threads on this place here. Unless things have changed with them, the response was: so-so food, but nice view.

Calling the food so-so is being nice. Nice View of the River though!

I went there twice in the year after it opened. The first time was for drinks only.....and they were out of 75% of the beers on the menu. Fail.

The second time was for drinks and food. They were out of the first three beers I attempted to order. For food, I ordered chicken nachos. I received a plate with chips, a pile of refried beans in the center, and four pieces of cold chicken on the side of the plate. I also received a side dish of sour cream. That was every ingredient in the "nachos". No cheese, no salsa. Fail.

Does anyone else find the OP as maybe an employee trying to drum up business?

This place is not even close to being as good as Scotts.
A VETERAN Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life". That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it. -Author unknown-

That's my take on the place too, I really wanted to like it...

We've been a few times, the food was ok, but the service was not. It was unbearably slow, and slow service annoys the heck out of me. When I have to wait 10-15 minutes to see the waiter for the first time, that doesn't work for me. Especially when I see 3 or 4 of them standing inside doing nothing. I even tried going up to the bar to order a beer and got flack for it. That was strike 1, 2 and 3 for me, I was done, we got up and left without having anything and after waiting 15 minutes, that was extremely annoying. We went over to Manderes and had a great time after that.

Like Steve said, I hope they've improved since because it's a really great location for a nice restaurant.

Could be, but that's ok, I think it's good for restaurant owners (or employees) to get on here and talk about their place.

I agree.. I love that...especially people like Strings, Folsom Lake Bowl and Lockdown...I do not like when businesses pretend to be customers and give reviews.
