Woman suspected of DUI crashes in to Lake Bowl in Folsom

FOLSOM, CA - A woman suspected of driving under the influence Tuesday morning crashed into a
Folsom bowling alley around 12:30 a.m.

Sgt. Jason Browning of the Folsom Police Dept. said 41-year-old Tera Nicholson of Folsom had
been drinking inside the Lake Bowl alley at 511 East Bidwell St. prior to leaving, getting
in her car and crashing into the alley's patio. The patio area is commonly used by
patrons for smoking.

Five people were taken to the hospital with injuries, with the most serious being a
broken arm, said Browning.

Nicholson was arrested and charged with DUI and causing great bodily harm, Browning said.

I don't understand why people don't take advantage of the rides available. These things shouldn't be happening.

Yes it's unfortunate that people don't take advantage enough of our designated driver service that we pay for. Our security guard was actually calling for a taxi to drive her home, when she went out the back door and decided to drive. We are very glad that nobody was seriously injured.

January 10th, 2012 – For Immediate Release
Vehicle crashes into Bowling Alley
5 Sent to Area Hospitals, No Critical Injuries
At 12:30 a.m. this morning the Folsom Police and Fire Departments responded to the Folsom Lake Bowl regarding a vehicle which had crashed through a wrought iron fenced patio containing patrons of the bar. When officers and fire personnel arrived on scene, they found five people with varying degrees of injuries, though none were considered critical.
The Folsom Lake Bowl is a bowling alley, bar, and casino located at 511 East Bidwell Street in Folsom. The patio of the business is an extension of the bar area and is commonly used by patrons to smoke tobacco.

Tera Lee Nicholson (41) of Folsom was arrested at the scene. She was booked into the Sacramento County Jail for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol Causing Major Injury (23153 CVC).
The nature of the patron’s injuries will not be elaborated on. A booking photo will be released once one becomes available.

Yep - she sure got waxed. It is absolutely amazing how many people make such poor decisions. I'll chock this one up as another teaching moment for my young children.

Comment from the News10 article says she lost her parents and son last week (unconfirmed). So, seems like she had a reason to get hammered but that still doesn't excuse her poor decision to drive afterwards.

The photos almost look like she drove completely through the patio. I wonder if she was angry or distraught when she left on top of being intoxicated.

Maybe she barely missed bowling a 300 game?

Well, at least you didn't go for the obvious spare joke.

If that unconfirmed comment is true, it's just sad all the way around.

one explination might be when your drunk R might look like D....knew a guy one time (kinda a country guy) that tore up a rental car transmission...his background it seems had been with stick shifts on the farm....he said he threw the car into reverse at 60 mph because he thought R meant race

Why is the news saying Folsom bowl is being investigated for possibly over serving this person?
If they offer free ride and tuck, can that stick?

So called, "Minor Injuries" can still be very painful and cause loss of wages and hospital cosst. The emergency room is VERY expensive and the police usually insist you go to one to make sure you are OK, if you are involved in an accident.

Although I'm sure there will be money for the injured, forth coming from insurance law suits, that takes time and can cause financial trouble for some, in these hard times.

I'm sure I won't be doing business with this lady in the future....that's for sure.

Good thing this was not on a weekend night or the injuries would have been catastrophic!!!!! This lady had been drinking all day long from a very good resource and yet they still served her!!!!
So she is obviously an Esthetician in the community, so I am going to pull up her license and put in on here, if she has one!!!!

Where is the high priced Folsom Police who pull you over for everything else? Lets see, we have a drug/intoxicated driver who kills two and now this and it does come in three's.

Lets hope you are not the next victim from this obviously not patrolled community....

Shame on you FPD and lets not blame it on budget cuts......
