Hi all,

I'm a recent graduate of the University of San Francisco & was born and raised here in Folsom. I've been having tough luck landing a job interview (I sure do regret getting a liberal arts degree...), but to complicate matters even more, I'm leaving for a 2-month adventure in Nepal this coming April. Since the odds of finding an employer who would be willing to take me on for such a short period of time are pretty low, I figure I might as well volunteer.

Any recommendations for organizations I should look into? I'd prefer to do something with kids/adolescents/teenagers/homeless within biking or lightrail range, as this would align with my grad school plans, but am really open to just about anything- I simply want to get out of the house and make myself useful!

Any and all suggestions are very welcome. Thank you!

Have you contacted Powerhouse here in Folsom?

Active 20-30 Folsom's next volunteer opportunity will be the Girl Scout Cookie Drop on Feb 18. It's at Cal Expo but we will be carpooling down there, I'm sure.

Wow, thank for the quick replies! I appreciate it very much.

Aztransplant- thank you, I sent an email to Powerhouse- hopefully they accept agnostic volunteers!

Gina99- thank you as well, I found a promising listing using the website.

If you are not afraid to get your hands dirty the Placerville & Sacramento Valley Railroad located at 1310 Bidwell St in Folsom could use your help on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am until 2pm. Light carpentry, painting, etc.

Trying to get the excursion railroad up and running so the tracks are not pulled up folks who want to convert the right-of-way into a trail of all things.

Do you have specific skills that may be useful for a non-profit. I am not saying that you need that, but quite often organizations have specific needs, like Quicken expertise or web/graphic design. All volunteers are great, of course, but getting someone that can fill a specific niche is awesome.
