Have you seen the new construction up there? It's unique to say the least. Especially for a Jimboys. My first thought was The Flinstones but my wife said it reminded her of some middle east castle? lol.

I have to side with your wife. I know it's not finished, but it looks prehistoric.

I don't understand going to that expense to dress up the exterior.

I give them credit for trying something bold and different! It's definitely not boring, which is a big improvement in my opinion.

Perhaps they know the construction guys and are getting the work at cost in hopes of attracting additional business for both Jimboys and the construction company. Being on such a busy street, it certainly receives a lot of attention.

If they think it will improve business, more power to them. Is it kind of like the Wigwam Motel idea on Route 66?

I just wonder how hard it was to get the new look approved. I stumbled over the planning commission minutes related to when the gas station was reopening across from Sutter Middle and there was nitpicking because the Circle K sign color clashed with the Shell sign color.

Jimboy's is horrible, greasy dripping food. I think I had it once. I don't know if making the bldg look like the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland will help but at least it's a change.

Ugh, having been on the now-defunct architectural review commission I can't believe anything that isn't sand-colored with no exterior lighting ever gets approved here.

That's how I remembered the chain, but I think they have changed, the last time I was dragged into one (which was the one in Folsom), the food seemed much healthier, no grease dripping from the taco meat, corn tortillas steamed instead of deep-fried. I was surprised.

Greasy but that's part of what makes it oh so tasty. Best Mexican style fast food.

I believe its the owner who is doing most of the concrete work himself. Yes it is different.

The grease is what makes it Jimboy's. Duh...

From the front it looks like there might be seating outside, which is always nice. It looks like a wall in front could shield noise from the cars/road when eating outside. It will be interesting to see what Jimboys looks like when it's done. I think WalMart is also scheduled to do a huge facelift. Nice to see some updating in midtown.

Just had tacos there last night. They were nice and crispy, not greasy at all. So tasty. The remodel is really something too. You have to see what they've done inside. Very unique... kind of Disney/ Indiana Jones- like. I was impressed with everything that they have done with the place.

Ha! Just read your description of the architecture ...dead on. However, you say their food is horrible, and you THINK you have eaten there once? C'mon...get your facts straight before you slam a place.
