I like to do a happy hour as opposed to a full dinner sometimes, although one can end up spending more on apps than if you got a full meal.

I also do a monthly mixer at a local spot. So, I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.

My top 3

* Land Ocean - $5 well drinks, good app menu. Tempura jumbo prawns with coconut butter sauce $7.
* Sutter Street Steak House - $5 drinks. Shrimp, oysters, fries, and incredibly good sliders, only $1 each.
* Paul Martin's (Roseville) - $4 drinks and $4 apps. Ribs and smoked salmon lettuce cups $4.

I used to like the Happy Hour at Yager's and at Hacienda, but it's been years since I've gone out for a Happy Hour. My favorite Happy Hour is now spent in front of the TV watching the News, downing a couple of nightcaps, and then going to bed. Cheaper than any Happy Hour, no chance of drunk driving/tipsy driving, or being hit by someone else that got a little too Happy. Seems the only time I cozy up to a bar for drinks and free food is on business travel at trade shows. If you can find a table it's great, but if it's standing room only, I tire quickly of the crowded conditions and the loud noise and usually bail and head back to my hotel room. Is it possible to just get tired of partying? I think that is what has happened to me.

I wanna say half off wings and you can get a slice of pizza for cheap that's pretty good size. Hours are from like 3:30-6 so you may need to get there a bit early. Couple times I've been it was pretty packed.

Steve - you named my favorite places too. I also like Manderes - they have taco specials- $1 a taco on Wednesdays, I think. Could be Tuesday.

Has PBR become a beer people actually WANT to drink? Have things changed since the days of $2 pitchers at the Pine Cove?

For some odd reason I'd say yes. I don't think it's just the price either. Maybe people are re-living the past or think going retro for that beer is cool, who knows.

It was the beer my Dad used to drink but I would rather have a xxxx Light instead.

I was in an Irish Bar in SF a few years back and they had a sign saying 'PBR $1'. I thought, 'PBR? Never heard of it. Sounds Irish, though.'

I ordered one, and to my surprise, found that PBR is Pabst Blue Ribbon. I guess it was ok for a buck.

IMHO they should pay the customer at least $1 to drink a PBR! :puke: I love GOOD beer and Pabst ain't it.

Tahoe Joe's has a good one, though they had raised their prices some.
Islands - again good and it went till 7pm but the last time we were there, they were changing it.
BJ's - also a good one

Fat's also has a great happy hour. I think it's discounted drinks and half off apps.

What about Manderes? Not sure if they have one.
