Folsom driver in fatal laughing-gas crash to stand trial
FOLSOM, Calif. (AP) -- A Sacramento County judge has ordered a trial for a man accused of causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence of nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas.
The Sacramento Bee reports Michael Dean Sharp, 22, of Folsom has been ordered to stand trial on two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter. He faces as many as 15 years in prison if convicted.
Superior Court Judge Greta Curtis Fall set the trial for July 26 during Tuesday's preliminary hearing.
Folsom police say Sharp bought 50 "whip-it" canisters of nitrous oxide and inhaled one before crashing into oncoming traffic on Jan. 7.
Police say Christopher Martell, 37, and his brother Robert, 32, both of Citrus Heights, were killed. A friend who was in their car was injured.

A VETERAN
Whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve - is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including their life".
That is HONOR, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.

Hope there is some justice for a devastated family.
Why is it legal for stores in this city to sell this stuff in a fashion usable this way?

When I was in High School I worked at an ice cream shop. There where a few guys there that would do just that. They get a hypoxic high from the whipped cream bottles. I don't think you can outlaw anything that could get some idiot high. What about licking frogs, or sniffing cat urine?
