Spider / Bug Bites

I think it is from my back yard. When I go out to feed the
birds I brush up against bushes, etc. I never see a spider
or bug but the next think I know I have about 4 bites on the
back of my left shoulder. The bites are about an inch apart
and they itch like crazy. I also have bites on my arms and
back. I put calamine lotion on them and it helps for awhile
but they scab over and also leak fluid.
Any ideas?
They will go away in time but I still have small scars from
the bites from last year. I am going to see a dermatologist in
about a week.

Sunlight and stress trigger shingles and most older people who have had chicken pox or the chicken pox vaccine, will have bouts of shingles in their senior years. They can spread, so don’t scratch them. Apply any creams with a gloved hand or Q-tip.
Cold compresses help as well.
Hope you feel better.....

Off hand, if it’s a sort of painful itch and drives you crazy, it could be Shingles.

I have had Shingles before, about four years ago. I know I could get them again
and was going to the the shot for them but still have not gone. Guess I should
do it soon.
I don't think this is Shingles but will keep that in mind.

I've heard that if you have had Shingles, the shots won't make any dfifference, as your immune system has already built up antibodies to them.
Of course, some clinics wanting to make a fast buck may tell you different.

When I asked my doctor (recently) if I should get the shot he
said it would be a good idea.. So I more than likely will.

This is simply not true- having shingles once does not create a lifetime prevention from getting them again... It is a well documented fact that it can occur more than once...
Even if you get the vaccine it is only effective for around 6 years.
Another great day in the adventure of exploration and sight.

I guess one can’t believe everything they hear!
So, one could say it’s sort of like a flu shot, only the shingles vaccine can last longer in some people?
I say some people, because none of us are going to respond the same way to a flu or shingles vaccine. It's not either or, bkack or white.
And, doctors can disagree with some information out there. I’ve had it happen to me, where one doctor will disagree with another. But I tend to believe those who have experienced shingles. They are the best to decide, in my book, if a vaccine works.
