Hi,
I am planning a birthday party for my soon to be an year old baby. We will be inviting only few close friends so not planning a big gathering. So looking for places where we could take everyone and have fun. There will be few kids mostly 1-5 years old while the rest will be adults. Would love to have a place where there could be some games to keep everyone entertained.
Would appreciate if someone could give me some ideas about such a place.
thanks!

I went to a 1-year old's birthday party on Saturday. It was in a big backyard. I would say there were easily 40 people there, including at least 10 little toddlers. They had an inflatable wading pool and a water table for the kids, a bean bag toss for the adults, plus bbq and food. Pretty simple. I think the 1-year-old's don't need the bouncy house, etc., that maybe a 5 year old might appreciate.

Leave the baby with the sitter and paint the town red.

You can have a lovely "backyard" party with fun games at a local park.

Depending on how many kids(and how old they are)- Lake Bowl might be fun. We had a birthday party there recently for our 5 year old. He and his friends had a blast. You could use the bumpers for the kids and the adults would be able to bowl too. Our group had a great time and the staff there was so awesome!

My youngest son will be turning one in a month, we will likely have his party at our home. When my oldest turned one we had his party at our home too and had maybe 24-30 people over. In my opinion it worked out great. I think we decorated our downstairs in a cars (the movie) theme and everyone had a good time.
I don't think being in an apartment makes a difference unless parking is an issue. As another idea though we went to a one year old party a few months ago held at William Land park. It was basically a BBQ, there were roughly 20 people and it was a good time. It wasn't so much playing games and stuff as it was just great catching up with other parents with new families.
We had our oldests 2nd B-day at the My GYM place across from the sports complex and that was fun, but probably wouldn't be ideal for a one year party.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body,
but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming
"Wow! What a Ride!"

Centerfolds in Rancho Cordova - don't let the name fool you, it's actually strip club.

Why not go to the Folsom Lyons park? They have the zoo and the little kiddie train. I think there are a few small BBQ thingies there. A play ground (pretty awesome, too!).
I think you do have to get a permit for alcohol if you are going to have a few beers while having the BBQ, but the "free" venue is totally worth the scenery, the outdoorsy theme, and the great weather.
What more could a bunch of kids ask for, at that age?

If you are looking for an indoor place to set up your own games or to go to after a park to eat or whatnot, Round Table has a back banquet room that you can reserve in two-hour blocks for free. We've had a few parties there for kids and have decorated the tables, set up games, cake, etc. and it's worked out great!
