I'd like to see the rails saved, is there anything I can do to show support?

There have been NUMEROUS votes along the way, with more to come. If you are serious emails to the Supervisors would be well worth your time and effort.

Thanks
Jeff

Yes, the BOS is important, but they just voted it down. However, it is under a joint powers authority use agreement. In my humble opinion, the rails should be saved and used. They are historic. It would be very hard to put in a railroad ever again in the future. We have many bike and walking trails. This scenic corridor will only be able to be enjoyed by the hardiest of bike riders and hikers, so many many people would could otherwise enjoy it by rail would be denied that opportunity. once we lose the rails, they're gone forever. I say save the rails! the bikers and hikers can still use it too. no one gets left out.

I just took my class on a field trip with the Folsom and Placerville Railroad at the beginning of May and it was AWESOME! The students recorded video with two flip cameras I got through a grant this year and I put footage together to make a video. I wasn't able to let the railroad group use it because I've got to get clearance from the students' parents. I did send each BOS a copy of the ideas the students' brainstormed when we wrote letters in support of the railroad. Most of the students included a small paragraph about why they want the tracks to remain. Some of the letters were adorable and I was proud of them! :cheer:

p.s. Since Folsom is in support people need to bring reasons why keeping the tracks helps El Dorado county!

I just don't see the point of keeping the tracks. There are areas that need major repairs. Not worth the money in my opinion. The ONLY real use they have had in the last few years is from hikers and bikers.

Ever ride the wine train in Napa? I wondered why we swayed so much, then I saw the tracks...holy cow they are in bad shape. Hmmm. The Placer wine train....I like it!!

Harsh.

I echo the "what trains?" question.
